Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender - September 2006

Most of my gay friends, if not all, are convinced that every man could go with another man, even me. I can argue for hours that I am interested in girls only and even if I respect them I am disgusted by the idea, but they won't change their mind or even listen to me, telling I am leing to myself, and that everyone does.
Why do they behave like that?

If you're a guy attracted to other guys, don't you wish you were a woman? Just seems like it would make things easier, considering how our bodies are designed.
(Same goes for our lesbian friends, of course.)

Reason I ask, it sure seems like a lot of gays/lez seem to take on some very obvious characteristics of the opposite sex.

I do not hate gays, but I am VERY scared of them.

Three months ago my best friend "came out" and since then I started distancing myself from him. I do not want to, but my fear is too strong! Life is seeming not so important without my friend, and I am really depressed too. But I do not know how I can stop being scared of gay people! Do you know how I can stop?

Flirt with them, tell them how cute they are, be such great friends with them, etc. Do they want to be like the girls, is it part of their nature, or is it just that the cute girls are an anomaly happening to draw that kind of attention?

This comes out of dozens of gay I asked them for. Just one of them said he likes gay more. Every other one replied they like straight men instead.

I pointed out that a straight guy will not go with a gay, but they said they prefere to pretend his partner straight instead of thinking him gay.

Ok i have just finished watching this movie for the first time, i dont think i have cried so much at a movie before! how could Aarons parents treat him so bad? omg it was such a good film and i think a lot of guys in our community can relate to this movie.

i have seen several percentages cited on this section of answers, only i wonder about the research, as there are many people who would lie about their orientation for the sake of a quiet life.

my guess is that most people are bi, and i know for a fact that there is indeed a spectrum/continuum of sexual orientation.

so when people say there's this percentage or that percentage of gays to bi's and str8s, how much of this can we believe? and how old is the research being cited, since it must surely be viewed in the context of perceived norms at the time the research took place?

i also wonder if iq tests measure emotional and social intelligence, since these two types of intelligence must be important when researching ratios of sexual orientation (and incidentally, a high iq doesnt mean you're automatically intelligent socially or emotionally).

we are a constantly evolving society, and the studies into sexual orientation must evolve with our changing perceptions of the norm.
