Mother is 99 and is being displaced for the 2nd time this year from a local senior supportive living facility.

In the interim she was in a nursing home for almost 2 months last spring because the first building where she had lived since 1979 was closed while she was in the hospital and she literally did not have a home!

I will be 62 in January but have been retired since 2001 and live in market rate housing.

The solution is for the two of us to live together.

Individually our income meets Section 8 guidelines, the combined total exceeds the maximum.

The 2 buildings where she had lived had project based "Section 8" but we just completed her voucher paperwork about 2 weeks ago.

Is it somehow possible to get a waiver on the income limits so that we might live together? The alternative might well be for her to return to a nursing home as a medicaid patient.

Your tax dollars at work?

To whom should I "plead my cause"?

I was feeling sorry for myself that we haven't heard from any of the kids or grandkids today. Then I realized, they haven't heard from us, either. I sent them a group greeting.

I now feel right at home and one of the gang! I wont say why, but it involved the words "get" and "life" to someone who was being rude to someone else. Happy Thanksgiving!

I kid you not, got it last night after I signed off. It's a good thing I don't celebrate holidays, or my dinner would have been a flop. I waited for this news my entire life & thought I'd be happy when he died. How does a person deal with the death of a person who has wronged them as a child? Anyone else ever go through this type of a thing? It IS a serious question. This monster was born on an 8 day & died on an 8 day, so I know he's coming back again.

Apparently liberals want quotas on who can be sent to prison..

Blacks are a minority of the US population, yet commit a majority of the crimes- hence the majority of prison inmates are black.

Blacks and liberals insist this is rascist- they think there should be just as many whites in jail as blacks..

How is the fact that blacks commit more crimes, are caught, tried and imprisoned proof that the jails are racist against blacks?

I see now that I have a block on me to prevent me from seeing and/or answering questions. I can see all the questions, but when I click on one to "see" it, I can't, I am blocked. Have I said anything to any one that has offended them? If I have, let me know what it was. I don't mean to make anyone mad at me, nor do I want to hurt any ones feelings. If I have offended someone, I am so sorry.

Are there any grants or help available for replacement central heating boilers for old age pensioners. We live in Aberdenshire Scotland.
The only income is the state pension and a small private pension with very little savings.

Disclaimer: I don't mean to challenge the notion of gay rights or suggest that the GLBT community owes anything to the Black clergy. However, it seems that many prominent GLBT voices (e.g. Dan Savage) often criticize / attack the Black clergy about some of its teachings (and the existence of fellows like Donnie McClurkin), but never give props to guys like Al Sharpton (who is in favor of gay marriage) and Jessie Jackson (who has been in favor of gay rights at least since 1984, way before it became fashionable). As we say in the 'hood, Wassup with that?

People from France are French, people from Germany are Germans, but they are both European. People from Japan are Japanese and China are Chinese, but both are Asian. Why are people from Mexico not considered American. Isn't Mexico part of North America? Aren't Mexicans also Americans?
