Disclaimer: I don't mean to challenge the notion of gay rights or suggest that the GLBT community owes anything to the Black clergy. However, it seems that many prominent GLBT voices (e.g. Dan Savage) often criticize / attack the Black clergy about some of its teachings (and the existence of fellows like Donnie McClurkin), but never give props to guys like Al Sharpton (who is in favor of gay marriage) and Jessie Jackson (who has been in favor of gay rights at least since 1984, way before it became fashionable). As we say in the 'hood, Wassup with that?
