Im a Yank, and noticed that no american actors can ever nail a british accent, although British actors easily impersonate american accents( guy from Roger Rabbit, Agent Smith from The Matrix) I love to pretend to talk like a brit.. do y'all like to pretend to talk like yanks? just curious.

I do not want to speak like a Yank although I sometimes can do sufficiently to fool a Yank from another part of USA.

I am told that whatever their local accent British (English Scots Welsh and for this answer Irish ) people naturally speak almost to a rhythm of five, Americans do not I'm no expert butt hat may be the reason

I think there is such a thing as a 'Mid-Atlantic' accent. - A lot of kids like to speak like their favourite bands or actors.

A few American actors can do a good British accent, but they mix up bits from different areas or cities a lot. And the British accents, especially those in the South of England seem to have changed strangely since the second world war. This means that anyone who picks up a British accent from old films (even those made in the fifties or sixties) will sound a bit odd.

Though not as bad as Dick Van Dyke in 'Mary Poppins'.
