Howcome all these "civil rights leaders" keep making racist comments? And isn't civil rights something that was accomplished?

I am a lesbian and when i talk about gays with my mom she cringes to the sound. She claims that she has nothing against gays but if shes so comfortable with it...why does she always assume that the only reason why gays exist is because they had a horrible childhood. They either were molested or raped or abuse when that is clearly not true. I am a lesbian and i am just fine so i think that there is absolutly NO truth in that and im pretty sure im not the only one who hasnt go through a tramatic experience. Yes i was close to being raped a year and a half ago but that was way after i knew i was a lesbian so that had nothing to do with it. I just want my mom and other people who know NOTHING about the gay community to stop judging us...we are human just like you. Jus because we love differently does not mean we are problem children or mental abused in the past. We are normal and we always will be. What do you think?

My classmates called me a racist just because I dont listen to rap or hip hop, I dont talk with bad words or slang, I dont wear rapper or hip hop clothings, and I dont watch BET. I belong to cultural and human rights club and I m studying american and other cultural laws, and they know about them but they says doesnt matter what I belive or do as long as I m not in to slang hip hop rap , makes me a racist. I dont have nothing agaisnt gay people. I dont like hanging around gay guys that acts feminin, but I feel more comfortable around gay guys that acts normal which is masculine. i just moved to atlanta and i live near three single lesbian women. it isn't the fact that their lesbians that bother me cause im one but they are starting to stalk me. everytime i go outside their either looking out the window or coming out side to talk to me. one time they even started to argue about who i would go out first.
