Why is this question here? It should be under the MUSIC section.

maybe if they play a good music u will be focused on it..
they want u to focus more on the supermarket settings, the ads, the aisle arrangements to get u buy more stuff so they play a crappy music..

this is my personal explanation ...good question though!

Well, they actually want you to stay longer - the longer you stay, the more you buy.

Look up the origins of Musak and "stimulus progression." There's a scientific basis to all of this.

Restaurants used to use just the opposite tactic - they wanted to get you to leave, so they could turn the tables, so they would play music in sets of 5 with increasing tempos.

Such subliminal psychological behavioral modification is banned in most places now. But it's an interesting topic anyway.

oooo my god I would like music even crappy music. I was at Safeway yesterday and trying to talk to mommy on the phone because I needed a recipe for low carb meatloaf and they kept paging people like every fifteen seconds. It was sooo LOUD. There was some kind afternoon update and they wanted everyone to "come to the break room" And of course I could not find what I needed and there was no one to help me because they where all in the back.

So enjoy the music girl..... open your mind and hear what you want to hear .........
If i could turn back time.

lmao

I actually like the music at the supermarket I go to. Today, when I was there, they played "The Way You Love Me" by Faith Hill, which I adore, and some other song I like whose name I don't remember.

Because they hate you..

Ok, not really, it's the demographics. Usually shoppers are between 30-55 years old. Granted everyone listens to dif music so they usually put on elevator music or 90's pop without any words.

There really isn't anything you can do about it either except for bring headphones along shopping with you.

I think they want to make you lose your concentration so you will forget what you need and buy more stuff and I don't think it is wrong asking a question in this group even if it does not reflect the lifestyle of the group it does not need to be placed in the music catagory if the person who is asking is LGBT and possibly wanting what they consider their friends who are like minded opinions.

When I was your age I use to tell my mother the same thing, They play lame music in here. Now I'm older and I walk around signing like my mother use too... It quiet imbarrasing. So when you get older you'll be doing the samething.... Its Like ever ten years they change to CD, or Tape, or record, Or 8 track.

I've been wondering the same thing for years! But when they do play something that I like, I'm singing and putting my meats and stuff in the cart. It'll be nice if they had a DJ in there(just a thought)...LOL!
