The research shows that any kind of non-transitioning (that is: stay a male damn you!) treatment tends to fail miserably. Compared to that (I wasn't given any actual numbers, just told that modifying thinking and behavior to match biological sex is VERY rarely effective), 75% of people diagnosed GID are satisfied with reassignment surgery. It's been awhile since I took the class this came from, so I don't know exactly what that means (if 25% are just always unhappy, or if the 75% represents ONLY sex reassignment, or something else), but the main point is just telling someone "Yeah, well you were born a male. Deal with it" just flat out doesn't work. If people can be productive, well-adjusted citizens with transitioning, why shouldn't we go for it? I think a better question is: should GID be in the DSM as a disorder?

I believe careful screening should be applied to ensure thiose offered surgery are doing it because it is what is necessary to make them happy and they are not just fantasizing about doing it.
Typing as a cross dresser I would say that I have no gender dysphoria, I know that I am male, I just like to dress up in women's clothes for sexual kicks! I have no wish to be female though at times I fantasy about it but I realise that it is pure fantasy and that it is not what i want.
In some people's mind I would need "help" or "cured" but all my dressing is done in the privacy of my house or hotel and any activities I indulge in when dressed are all consensual and thus I feel happy as I am and require no treatment of any kind.

I think people should be allowed to make their own choices as to whether or not they get "cured" or given the treatment they desire. It is well known among the psychological community that there are no "CURES" for sexual orientation.Just go to the DSMV IV Wickopedia and look at ex-gay/Exodus Movement and you will see what professional opinion is.The things Christians have done to people in the past is barbaric, like burning and hanging people suspected of being witches. Now they want to fool with the psyche of gays while the APA and the rest of the scientific community are telling them they can not change sexual orientation through prayer and meditation.Sicko's who just want to play around with other peoples lives. We should help those who wish to be helped as they are wanting surgeries and all of that. And we should embrace their choice as a right.

For a "cure" to be of any use, the final outcome is a happy, healthy life. If you are born male and feel more in tune with a female life, then the "cure" is to be female. If, as female, you are happier and fulfilled, then the "cure" succeeded.

I think you should do what ever makes you the happiest. If you feel that you will fulfill your life by having the change more power to you. But staying male or becoming female is all up to you. You have to think about your happiness.

That's a toughie. They usually do surgery when a child is very small. They usually make them female, because it's easier they claim. But I don't know. I saw this episode of Law and Order SVU where that happened to a kid who was a twin. They turned him into a girl because it was easier. They ended up being murderers, of course. It was terrible, so I don't know the answer. Sorry.

people have not got those solutions for you. it fairly is an fairly very own decision, besides the shown fact that i ask your self what drives some people to alter their physique that lots- could it fairly is that society makes people experience "incorrect" of their gender by ability of forcing to many gender stereotypes on people.

I think you already know the answer to this one then. How about spreading the word so that more people can correctly answer this question instead of bashing us?
