In Yahoo! groups, there are so many bigoted questions about black people... yet there are not so many (if any) about white people by black people, and then white people ask questions about why we feel discriminated against, why we still think racism is a problem... I mean just look at the questions on this board, a general gathering of people in society- the mindset of many of the white people on here is bigoted, narrow-minded and backwards. Is it really hard for white people to comprehend that possibly racism still exists... and they just don't know or understand because they are White? Or do white people think they can understand a black person's experience in the USA without ever having been black and discount a black person's experience because it doesn't align with their idea of what the world is 'supposed' to be like?

this is long, sorry! im bi; right now i have an interest in this boy. actually 2 boys, but it could never work out with the one i dont think b/c he's my best friend's brother. but besides that, there's this other guy who i cant "read." all the time in public hes got his hands all over me, and he doesnt object when i do the same. but i cant tell if it's play or not. some of it im sure is, but like i dont know. for example, in the car tonight he reached from the back seat and pinched my asss (which was play) so i reached back to brush him away, and then he was like "is that your hand?" (which it was) and i said yea, and he was like okay, and he held it. for a while. but then he kinda pulled away. so i cant really tell. i'm sorry, i mean im almost graduated HS and i (still) cant figure out boys. also, i dont know if i'm just seeing this wrong. i dont think so; people always yell "fag" and s**t when we're downtown, but he just shrugs. i don't want to ruin anything by asking. help? thanks!

I have heard that there is a country club in Florida that is well known for being ultra-exclusive. It is so exclusive that not only will it not allow Jews to be members but they will not let them in the doors! I am not positive of the name but I think the name of the club is Everglades or somthing. I'm wondering if I can get anymore info about their history or anything else of note.

Just for questioning purposes.. I need to know if Japan dislikes America. Not Japan as a whole population [because, there are a lot of people I'm sure that don't hate us], just as a general sterotype?

Now that I've got your attention...
I've been teased most of my life for not being "black enough." My mother raised me in a home where we used proper grammar, no slang or "ebonics" or anything like that. I also love reading, and I read a lot of advanced books for my age. Put the two together and you've got a recipe for disaster in an inner-city school. I was always the one with a Charles Dickens novel in my hands while my peers were downloading rap lyrics off the internet. I was always accused of using too many "big words" (words with more than 2 syllables--plus, I don't think the word "ain't" has crossed my lips more than 10 times in my 19-odd years of existence on this mortal coil), and "acting like a white girl"(reading real books and actually doing my homework:). My question is this:Why do you think some(if not most) black people tend to look down on education as being a "white" thing?

Okay. So I know this is quite a predicamint. (sp). I wish I could get over it. Whenever I'm around this person at work I try to avoid him/her (not giving out specifics-smile) because of what I'm feeling. I only end up sounding stupid anyway. This has been giving me headaches :-P

I read this article the other day written by a brotha who was encouraging all African-American to refuse being called that. Says he was born in USA, so that dont make him any African - he's all AMERICAN? Do you feel that way too? Whose idea was it to move from Black American to African American? What would you rather be called? Well, Im all African.
