If my girlfriend of 9 years and I got married we would share each others last names. We would be equal partners to a beautiful marriage.

I have been with my husband since 1989 - I refer to him as my husband. He usually says significant other in referring to me and sometimes says husband. He calls me Sweetheart a lot and I call him Honey most of the time. If we were to legally join our names I would hyphinate my last name with his and he would just keep his last name as is......

For a last name, my girlfriend and I are going to combo our last names and create a new one. This is more because both of us hate our last names then anything and we want our children to have the same last name as us.

And if, gods willing, I am ever able to marry my girlfriend, she'll be my wife.

I call mine, Baby, Best Beloved, my Darling, Sweetheart, my Love. I think many gay (or I like to call us Happy) people do the same. So do many straight folk.
