U got alot of really ignorant stupid answers, so let me set u straight if you really want to know... NO. God supposedly made all of us correct? well that includes every type, race ect... Their are alot of choices in this life one will be faced with and have the opportunity to decide 4 themselves. Why the hell would someone chose a life of constant hardship? EVERY single homosexual i have spoken to because i worked in alot of NYC clubs, said and i will quote"I knew what i was when i was very young." I was born that way. Some understood it earlier then others 5, 6 yrs old others 9, still others 12. Some tried to fite it to go w/ the flow and were miserable and confused. That crap about the third child being gay is the funniest load ive heard yet. Over the last few years, high school kids mostly girls all of a sudden made it "cool" just like a few years b4 that the goth bit was a good "shock attention getter", and skinheads b4 that..ect..
Sexual abuse causes psychological problems that if not taken care of can cause a person to feel at fault, guilty, distrustful, and a feeling of i don't care about myself, im already wothless. They r a victim and don't even realize it without help. I will say all these fake lesbians have given the real gay/lesbian community more power to force from being ignored anylonger. Because it was coming out into the open more and more, but for the most part, these people r simply bicurious, using it as an excuse, or just full of crap. Have you ever heard a pre-k kid say i wanna grow up to be a crackhead? Why do people look at Dr's or prescription pill addicts as poor souls but street drug addicts are nasty people who should just get their **** together? All of a sudden MTV decides its trendy to b gay and its ok now, when 5 yrs ago they would have to keep a low profile for fear of getting gaybashed?

I believe that a person's sexuality comes from their environment, so I do believe that an experience like being abused can make a person either want that (I don't mean they like it) or that they will go away from that. If it's recurring, then it's possible that it will become a way of life. Like if a father rapes his son over and over or all those poor boys raped by preachers, some of them had to have become gay because of that. On the other side, there's probably quite a few lesbians that were raped or molested thate became lesbians because of such instances (seems Oprah still hates men and she was raped a long, long time ago. I am not saying she is wrong). I don't believe being gay/lesbian is genetic. I think it's all environment and I also believe that these kind of things can send people towards being gay. Michael Jackson was abused as a child and now we see he has become very strange, as with his sisters too. It's all very sad, I mean the Jackson family, not that people are gay. That's a choice they make. It's not up to me to judge them.

Being Gay or Lesbian is the same as being Straight, it's how God made you or the way you are born, depending on your beliefs, it has nothing to do with sexual abuse and it is not a choice, why would someones "choice" be to be something that they know will cause them pain & heartache, something that may have most everyone you know & love turn their backs on you! I am a woman that likes other woman, yes-lesbian, but I have never been hurt by a man-because I have never had a relationship with one! I am who God made me and I have always known that, so hopefully this will clear up alot of stupid myths!

No, sexual abuse does not make you gay. The rates of sexual abuse in the gay community and in the straight community are about the same.

Sexual abuse has no connection whatsoever with a person's sexual orientation. If sexual abuse by an adult male made every abused boy a homosexual, there would certainly be a lot more male homosexuals. Sexual abuse might cause one to have a problem with one's sexual identity or self-esteem.

It can definitely contribute to the process. Sexual abuse distorts people's perception of sex and love in many ways, and this is one of them. Sexual abuse can make people promiscuous, afraid of intimacy, and create all types of perversion. Now, I'm not saying that all gay people have been abused. But many gay people I know have been the victim of sexual crime. like other vicims of sexual assault, they often feel the blame and may have even somewhat enjoyed the experience enough to "try it" again. When they do, they feel that the fact that it is enjoyable reaffirms their sexuality.

Maybe.

There has been a long debate in recent years about whether gay/lesbian children (and adults) are born that way or are "turned" gay/lesbian by their upbringing.

A recent article (August 2005) published in The Boston Globe states that it may not be genetic or the child's upbringing but something else entirely.

It's a long read but interesting. Check it out at:

It can, but does not always. Nor is it primarily the cause of a homosexuality. People are born gay, and sexual abuse has nothing to do with it. And to comment on a previous answer. most men who abused young boys, aside from being sick, mentally ill ppl, are also heterosexual...often married...often have children. It has NOTHING to do with gender,

Sometimes it most certainly can. It is a shame because they are very insecure about their relationships and relations. Being gay?bi isn't always a mistake made by life, sometimes people are just that way, but yes emational and sexual abuse can have a direct affect too. Hope whoever you know like this finds their way.

No. Not at all. People say lesbians are that way because of a bad experience from a dude.. then they say dudes are gay cause an abuser introduced them to the "lifestyle"...its all BS
