Honestly I am not trying to offend anyone. Myths are found in religions. Some followers take them as symbolisms to learn values from. Some followers take them as facts. I am just curious on what every day believers (instead of religion scholars) take them as.

Can it include pre-marital sex?
Does it count with swingers where all parties consent?
Doesn't the bible mention prophets and other good people who have multiple partners?
Does the bible say that concubines are a bad thing?

Just curious. But I'm asking about the bible, not opinions.

A website recommending this speaks of the Latin Liturgy. It recommends parents and teachers to teach their children grammatical constructions, syntax, definitions and so on.

As the Scriptures were written in Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic it probably will not help them to understand what the word of God actually says.

Surely Latin is a 'dead' language. So it seems to be a bit of a odd if instead of making God's word easier to understand we complicate it.

Jesus spoke in the language of the people around him, though he used parables to test the extent of their real interest.

When the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles as tongues of fire upon their heads it enabled them to speak in the languages of those who had come up to Jerusalem from surrounding countries. The people marvelled because they could all understand.

How will children understand what God wants them to do and to be if it is in a foreign language?

Is now a good time to buy real estate that was previously foreclosed because of subprime mortgages, or should we wait a little longer and see if the prices drop more?

As a fan of the Harry Potter book series, I'm curious as to whether there is any religious significance to the attributes/charracterists of the four Hogwarts houses.

Gryffindor - courage
Slytherin - power
Ravenclaw - knowledge
Hufflepuff - diligence

i noticed a lot of mormons using this phrase. it reminds me of a cult test

question #5 Cult-speak

The cult has its own language. The cult invents new terminology or euphemisms for many things. The cult may also redefine many common words or phrases to mean something different.

"Loaded Language" is one of Robert J. Lifton's Eight Conditions of Thought Reform -- an essential part of any effective brainwashing program. The cult-speak may include a bunch of well-worn slogans. The special words constrict rather than expand human understanding, and the slogans stop thought.

here are more phrases regarding loaded language:

Do you support denying legislation to allow a persons right to die regardless of a persons faith or lack of one?

Do you support faith based laws such as a ban on abortion on people regardless of a persons faith or lack of one?

Do you support bringing Christianity back to pubic schools regardless of the non-Christian community such as Hindu, Jewish, and Muslim ( to name a few) that attend public school?

Do you support censoring public media outlets to conform to a sole pro-Christian view regardless of the diverse ethnic/religious society?

If you said yes to any of these questions

If the changes took place it would impact you as an individual or would it impact anyone who didn’t follow your beliefs more?

If the changes took place how do you think the non-Christian community would receive it?

Lastly, if the changes took place do you think the non-Christian community would feel free?

For now, I'll define the practice of "Respectful Evangelism" as the following:

1. Requesting permission to talk about your faith.
2. Accepting a refusal with grace and understanding.
3. Stopping when someone indicates in any way that they've heard enough.
4. Openness to hearing others' experience, even if it contradicts your story.
5. Never displaying dissatisfaction with the other person's response.

So I realize that I just don't care whether god exists or not. I would put a strong pascal wager bet on the "god doesn't exist" side, but it doesn't mean much, as I can't prove it. But I can settle the issue very easily.

I just don't care if there's a god, and if he exists, I don't want to be part of his project. I read the bible and every other page made my jaws open. My moral values find these readings appalling, so I decided that even if your god exists, I just don't care. So he can wipe me out of existence, end of story - issue settled.

Anyone else feel this way?
