Check out the actual photographs of Noah's Ark they are very revealing.. and interesting to say the least.. i have the link at the bottom of his answer:
If you look into other cultures around the world they will tell you of an ancient flood. Most historical events in ancient times were mostly passed down threw story telling.. Its interesting to know that most cultures have a similar story of Noah's Ark.
Evidence of a Great Flood is everywhere. If you look at the layers of the Grand Canyon they tell a story of the great flood. You see birds and clams at the top layers and heavier creatures buried at the bottom layers... The reason for birds and clams being on the top is because during the Flood birds probably flew around for a while until they got tired and then drown. Clams do not weigh much and they floated just like the birds and thats why they were buried close to the top layers..
Trees standing in the upright position threw many of the layers prove that the layers were formed quickly and not over a long period of time.. these trees must have floated to the bottom and got stuck in the mud. they found hundreds of trees that uprooted and are mixed together in awkward positions that can be only explained by a Flood. The pressure alone causing the bottom of Grand Canyon can only be explained by a great flood. The only thing that can uproot trees is a flood and thousands of trees uprooted in different areas around the world can only be explained by a world wide flood.
Was there a Flood? why not? why is it a symbol? a symbol for what? God is very capable of producing a flood it is our disbelief that makes us come up with things like symbolism and poetry attributed to scripture when the words clearly describe language of a literal meaning.
THESE ARE THE ACTUAL PICTURES OF NOAH'S ARK

Genesis 1-11 is clearly reflective of Sumerian myths, which are the ultimate origin of the stories, including Noah's Ark. What is important is to see is the way the stories are used in Genesis, where there is one common theme: These events are not random, but are the result of a single monotheistic God acting in history, in a demanding but loving relationship with his followers. There's the key message. So the account is based on myth, which may in part be based on history, but retold in the struggle of humankind to understand God's ways.
In short, the Bible is not a book of science or of history, but an account of God's relationship to humankind.
Christian here, and one who would be characterised by others as "liberal Christian."

I think it's the truth. God specifically says all about it in Genisis. That can explain why there are fossils. It's like saying is Jesus a myth or fact, because no one physically see's it, they don't believe, same with Noah and the ark.

I personally believe that Noah's Ark is real, but it was a major local flood not a global one.
There is simply not enough water on earth to cover the entire surface of the planet. Not to mention dozens of other problems.
It is much more reasonable to assume that the flood was so big it was perceived that it covered the Earth.

It was an actual event. Do you ever watch discovery. They have proved water covered the earth at one time. And why on earth would these Genius Scientists spend so much time and tons of money, searching for the Arc, if they did not prove at least to themselves through thier research and study that it actually happened.

It is a myth, at least, from a Christian perspective.
But it was almost certainly based on an actual flood that hit ancient Mesopotamia.

Cherry-picking much? Either believe the whole book or don't believe it at all! There's nothing metaphorical about the story of Noah. Geesh!

I believe there was really an ark, but I don't believe it was a global flood. It had to be just a local one.
