I'm sitting at a traffic light and some guy hurls a glob of spit out the window. What's up with that? It's not chewing tobacco spit, it's clear, bubbly and slimy saliva. I have never had so much saliva in my mouth that have to spit it out the window. Is this a guy thing? Some kind of macho exhibition or what? I see it quite often.

(Oh yay, I have a cause.)

Seriously, don't you ever watch some of these fundamentalists on television spouting hate in the name of your savior, and get all worked up and angered by it? Or watch the politicians who have equated Christianity with radical right-wing conservatism and twisted it from a faith to a policy? I certainly do.

I think that more of us need to take a stand for our beliefs -- not to say that fundamentalists don't have the right to believe as they should, but to separate ourselves and remind these guys that Jesus preached about love -- not hate, or intolerance, or lobbyism.

Anybody with me?

I was watching the last ever episode of Inspector Morse the other night and in it, just before he dies, Morse goes to a solicitor to write his will.

While there he states that he wants no religious ceremony and that he intends to leave his body to medicine.

Is this the usual course of action for atheists to take or do most of them lose their nerve at the end and have a christian/muslim burial?

Many belief systems have negative connotations that are simply misconceptions based on ignorance. For example atheists to do not worship the devil and Catholics do not worship statues.

What are some misconceptions you would like to clear up about your beliefs?

The EX Daily Word for August 22, 2007

"Somebody is Watching You!"

Col. 3:17 'And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of
the
Lord Jesus, all the while giving thanks through him to God the Father.'
NLT

It is a shame when a person that is professing to be a Christian can go
to
work for years and years and no one at their job is ever lead to Christ
by
them. It is a shame how a person can be a Christian and yet live in a
house
for years and years with an unsaved spouse and never lead them to
Christ.
Funny how they can appear so spiritual in church, and yet no one is
ever
affected by them or changed by them. How can you be a Christian and no
one
around you desires your Christ? At that point, you should take a good
look at
yourself and examine your lifestyle. There must be something wrong.
People
don't care how you preach Christ around them, or how you talk about
your church
home to them. They are measuring what you have by your walk. They want
to
know that Christianity is working for you before they decide to try it.
The church is
getting so weak in this area and the world is losing hope in many of
us.

Trying to fit in with the world cost souls. Trying to hang in the club
or
dating unsaved people costs your witness. Your behavior is costing you
many
souls when you don't represent Jesus with your entire lifestyle. You
must
stay in the position to win others to Christ. You must be aware of
people
around you and live according to the word of God in their presence if
you
expect to ever win them to Christ. You can't become like them and
change
them, but you have to show them the best way to live. The way they live
is
not good enough, so don't ever become like them to win them. On your
job,
you must not get close to people that are not living right, but you
must
only get close enough to show them a better way of living. You can't
embrace their lifestyle because that will be approval to them, so you
must
live Christ like in front of them so they will desire what you have.
You
are an example of Christ for the unbeliever or the hypocrite. You
cannot
win them if you operate in sin, unbelief, or hypocrisy yourself!

I had this one guy give an answer that said most atheists are teenagers and young adults who read an article or two and just make a descision not to believe in god without getting the facts. What are your thoughts on that?

us as Christians should be known for the fruits of the spirit which is number 1: LOVE and have patience. so would you go out into your neighborhood and offer to clean up someones backyard, mow, or just serve them in a way that they would be blessed by? Why do we as Christians not get out and show that God loves everyone, so I encourage you to do something for someone.. maybe not now but later

I personally believe that a man who committs domestic violence against a woman can not be cured; Regardless if he graduated from a Domestic Violence Class. Unfortunately, my wife disagrees. My wife's ex husband is a, "Jerk", and has been physically abusive against her, before me, in the past. The court issued a restraining order against him for 3 years and now it's about to expire this November; They also share a son together that he so happens to acquire after the violence. He did everything he could to make her life a living hell when she had her son; Thus she gave up. I suggested that the restraining order be extended and if this could not be at least a new one reinstated. My wife disagrees because she feels it would be a strain on the relationship between her and her son; thus reprisal from the ex husband. In retrospect this has caused a strain on our marriage...

First, on agnosticism.
Agnosticism is not a fence-sitter, nor are they wishy-washy. They most definately are not trying to decide whether or not the christian god is real. In my case, I in no way believe in the christian god. I am agnostic because I don't write off the concept of god(s) completely. As far as world religions go, I'm more atheist than anything.

Second, on atheism.
Atheism is not a religion. It requires no ritual, no worship. Some do "preach" it with religious zeal, but that's fighting fire with fire. You can thank religion for that, because without theists, atheists would not exist.

And finally, for those of you that can't or won't look beyond your misconceptions, you're assuming way too much about both groups. And we all know what that does. We don't "know the truth but deny it." We don't "fear being held accountable for actions." We simply disagree with you, and are vocal about it because we have as much a right to our views as you do to yours.

You really think the Government or NASA is going to tell the general public what they encounter in space? you don't trust what they say on the War in Iraq or on Terrorism but you have all hands up they will tell you about UFO's?
My interest in it is because it also speaks of Celestial Battles in the heavens...
Thank you but I constantly read and then make up my mind from all points of views.. you are just CLOSE MINDED to everything *why *because you deny GOD or because you are a Scientist or a Astronaut?
Some of you that respond with rude remarks are not even 21 by your profiles,,, no wonder that next generation is in serious trouble..
Did not mean to be rude..but why not open your eyes to other things?
