The Jewish people have one of the oldest identities as a people on Earth. They are a very identifiable group throughout history. They therefore have a long history of being identified as "different" wherever they may be living. It is human nature to distrust that which is different. This leads to attribution of character traits that usually have no basis in fact, or are half-truths. This easily then can lead to false blame. This then eventually leads to hate. It has happened to nearly every group of people in some context, but has happened particularly often and intensely to the Jewish people because of their longevity and distinctiveness as a people. Finally, they have had the audacity to claim a special relationship with God (one which He started!). Sincerely, Grain of Wheat

Well, since I've been on R&S I've seen just about everything. Here's the typical list:

1. The Talmud allows Jews to do horrible things to (fill in the blank).

2. The Jews are greedy.

3. The Jews own the media.

4. The Jews caused 9/11.

5. The Jews stole land from the Palestinians.

6. The Jews killed Jesus.

7. The Jews only care about each other.

8. The Jews have too much money.

9. The Jews control the US government.

Now these are the excuses. Here are the reasons:

1. I have a low sense of self-esteem.

2. I'm ignorant.

3. I'm fearful.

4. I hate "other people" in general (see self-esteem above).

5. I have to blame **somebody** for the world's (and my) ills, and I can't bear to look at myself first.

I'll add more as I think of 'em. Pretty sad, huh?

Hatred of Jews is built on ignorance, the same as hatred for other religious groups/races/etc. are built. Jews are stereotyped and judged based on that stereotype and not on who they are as individuals.

So,what caused those stereotypes?
The main one, that they are greedy, is thought to have arisen because they could, according to their religion, collect interest on loans at a time when that was a strict Christian no-no ("neither a borrower nor a lender be"). Nowadays, Christians can be nasty bankers too but Jews still have that stigma attached to them.

Another one, Jews stealing land from Palestinians, seems strange to me because it is my understanding that Palastinians are also Jewish. It's popularly thought that Jesus was a Palastinian Jew. That one is clearly based on ignorance.

I can't speak to the Jewish ownership of the media. I know that there is conservative ownership of the media but not all Jews are conservatives. I don't like that our media only has one view point but this falls away from the scope of your question.

Blaming them for killing Jesus... again, he too was a jew.

Being God's chosen people probably rubs Christians/etc. the wrong way.

Those are the main 'reasons'. It strikes me as odd that they should still be hated (not that they should have been hated at all) after the persecution that they have suffered, especially since I've never met one that I didn't find incredibly attractive (guess I just blew my unbiased standpoint. Ah, well, it was worth it.)

This goes way back, Jews have suffered diaspora more than once (as far back as 586 BC) and they were even blamed for the bubonic plague. What started it? Maybe no-one can say.

I don't dislike Jews, but I think both Arabs and Jews have done things to each other. With Israel, it seems that many people are not trying to find a middle-ground. In America, it is the same. I know this is just my opinion, but I think many people believe that the world seems to act like only the Arabs are causing problems. Again, this is my opinion, the blame game, obviously hasn't helped.

I'm black and Ive never really understood this whole 'we hate the Jews' bull crap going on in the 'white community' ....actually no - i understand it perfectly - people always want to look for a scapegoat for problems in society instead of accepting the fact that EVERYONE plays a role. i got into an argument with a girl at school last year (I'm 18) about that ****. i go to a catholic school and we just had an open discussion and she came out about how shes anti-Semitic. to begin with i dint consider Jewish a race; they're a certain ethnic group of white people. anyway she went on talking about how the Jews killed Jesus and how Jewish people have been greedy and making money and all this other crap. i was completely outraged - i dunno as a black person i kind of tried to relate. generalizations are pathetic to begin with. i told her straight out that she was prejudiced and hateful toward Jewish people and she was so upset all of a sudden. seriously using god to justify prejudice? and being upset because theres a trend of hard working wealthy people in a certain community whose ancestors were oppressed and butchered like animals? where the hell do people even get the nerve to say **** like that. the only problem i have with jewish people is the state of israel and that has more to do with politics and rights than them as people.

...ugh! now im mad. thanks lol

Two basic reasons:

1. The arrogance of Jews by declaring (in the Torah) that
God created the earth simply for the Jews.

2. The myopic view of Christians who think the Jews
rejected Christ and Christ is God.(as written in the
Christian bible).

I've always wondered that myself. I think It could have to do with Middle Schoolers and south park. I have no real reason to hate Jewish peoples.

I'm not sure whether you mean hate of Jews or hate by Jews, but either are a sad state of affairs (along with any other "group" hate).

the reason why a lot of people are racist towards jewish people is because at one point in time they were God's chosen people......there is no reason for racism towards jewish people or any other race for that matter
