I think as the generations are continuing over the years, culture is slowly being lost in oppurtunities that had never been available in the past. Today there is a whole new world with all kinds of technology and various different aspects and choices for one concept. Being an Indian myself and growing in a western society, I see the great difference of cultures. My parents still have many traditional and cultural views that they follow and with me being a girl, they are mega strict on me and seeing the western cutlure amongst me of course I am going to want to lean more towards over the western culture than my own. However, I have a lot of respect for my culture and even though my parents are extra strict on me, I wouldn't want it any other way because I kno in the end, one day I'll thank them. I haven't lost my own culture but have adapted in ways to make both cultures a part of my life in a way that doesn't disrespect my culture or any other. In the end, I think that ignorance of one's own culture and the growing aspects of the everyday life such as internet both highly influence each generation when decifering between their own society vs. western society.

Western culture is '' Self and Children '' and Indian culture is '' Children and Generations ''.
So western culture is developing fast as it applied to '' Practical Living ''.

Well I think for obvious reasons, like globalization, changing economy, increase of american companies outsourcing to India and the influence of media, like internet and tv so much is changing so fast in India. During my last visit to India I was surprised when I went to a popular mall there that I was one of the very few people wearing Indian clothes there, lol. There are some good things about the changes we are seeing, like the change in women's education and the economy, but I hate to see us lose some of the best parts of our culture and our identity. I can only hope India reaches a good balance between the 2 so we don't lose some of the best parts of our culture.

I think u r an indian as ur names sound
we are not accepting western culture, we r just involved in their trends, we even don't know what their culture is.
Only the things appear on TV screens and their films which r also trendy to them are followed by us
so we indians who follow their trends can be defined as
Dhobi ka Kutta na na ghar ka na ghat ka
This is because globallization brought lot of money in our country and all people who positively affected by goballization became materialistic.

They have learnt it the hard way. Now they can realise that the Western Culture & theories are the only way to make a mark in this world. Western people are developed and its better to follow their trademarks rather than sticking to our sickining culture which has led us to nowhere.

capitalism has no regard for culture.
Kent, you're right too. Nothing is as simple as it sounds...but there is such a thing as positive globalization.
