I have not sinned by consuming meat, for it is mentioned in Manu Smruti,That is, Ch.5 verse 30

"the eater who eats the flesh of those to be eaten does nothing bad,even if he does it day after day,for god himself created some to be eaten and some to be eater"

Though in the Garuda Purana it says otherwise, being a Hindu i find it quite complex to do what is right by the laws. I hope some of you can help me overcome this. I have read some of the Vedas and am halfway through the Gita, reading is not the problem, understanding is.

I tried Christianity earnestly for the first twelve or so years of my life and found it's not what I'm looking for. I looked into Wicca/Witchcraft for about seven years and though I like it, it's not for me.
How long and hard do you believe a person should search each particular religion/belief system to see if it's right for them? All open-minded opinions are welcome.

Could you please list (you don't have to write out the verses just the book, chapter and verse is good) verses from the New Testemant that talks about Drinking, Cussing, Premarital Sex, Drugs(Unwholesome food) and giving into to peer pressure (conforming to the world)?

What is the relation of the Ten Commandments to Islam?

Are they upheld & respected, as Moses was a prophet of God?

Or are they superceded?

Are they seen as more basic & intrinsic to the religion & way of life than say, the Five Pillars, or vice-versa?

Should a (good) Muslim practice them, or not?

I just came back from observing the closing of Catholic Heart Work Camp in Tampa, Florida. About 250 teens from around the country spent the week working very hard to help the poor, disabled and abandoned.

Can all the haters and nay sayers in here take a minute to rejoice in kids who give of themselves in this way>

I am not Catholic. I work for them. I am not always sure I am Christian, at least not in the way most perceive Christianity.

But I do hope you will join me in giving thanks every time young people or any people, put aside fear and hatred and selfish aims to reach out to the suffering.

OH, and the music at the closing prayer service nearly made me deaf but I was thankful to be there. Young people are life renewing itself.

My husband and I are having a disagreement about how people ended up with dark/white/fat/skinny skin. We were having a discussion about the science view of how humans came around. In the time line of what we can determine of human existence, why/how did people get different skin pigments and body sizes?

I am a 29 yr old black male from NC,.....earn about 45k annually, and my job puts me in contact with people sometimes hours at time. It never fails, I always get asked by white people , "so where are you from, because you don't have an accent?" and what I feel they are really saying is "you speak so properly, you don't sound like a black person", I swear , it never fails.....,so if i say , "oh , im from NC"..... my answer still does not go unpunished, so then the questions ensue to the point where I cannot even complete my job. I know race is a sensitive issue here on the boards, but dont take it personally, this falls along the lines of white people complimenting a black person by saying they are articulate. so tell me , what's your biggest misconception?

Im confused on this. Shouldn't the person to rise up against God be satan? And if humans have free will why would a human become the anti-christ? And if God knows everything why allow that human to be born? It makes not sense to me.

Absolute means free from control, restriction or qualifications.
A few people on here have said that they don't need a God to tell them how to run their lives and that they believe in evolution because it doesn't demand anything from them. I am asking this question to people who have no belief in God and have no need to adhere to God's laws as set forth in the ten commandments. We all know that porography is in, and for some of us, part of our lives, on our internets and so forth.

It was summer of 1999 (I think) and I was on the USS Kitty-Hawk. We were in the gulf, and the humidity was terrible. Going thru "the tunnel" to get to my berthing, as I climbed the ladder I slipped on the humidity moistened steps and fell backwards. I felt a hand between my shoulder blades, shoved me and instead of a bone breaking fall down, my knees and hands were merely scuffed when I fell forward. I turned to thank my rescuer... but the closest people were at the mouth of the tunnel about 15-20 feet away... they saw the whole thing. "nothingness" (they said) caught me and pushed me forward. Ghost? Guardian Angel? Who can tell?
