not sure if this ? should be here or in the religion section... perhaps boths?

It was summer of 1999 (I think) and I was on the USS Kitty-Hawk. We were in the gulf, and the humidity was terrible. Going thru "the tunnel" to get to my berthing, as I climbed the ladder I slipped on the humidity moistened steps and fell backwards. I felt a hand between my shoulder blades, shoved me and instead of a bone breaking fall down, my knees and hands were merely scuffed when I fell forward. I turned to thank my rescuer... but the closest people were at the mouth of the tunnel about 15-20 feet away... they saw the whole thing. "nothingness" (they said) caught me and pushed me forward. Ghost? Guardian Angel? Who can tell?

i don't know if it was a guardian angel or the hand of god. here is another story...
going to work one very foggy morning, on a highway that had just recently been widened, i was westbound and could only see about a car length in front of me. the car behind me decided to pass. as soon as the car got even with me we saw a semi approaching in the eastbound lane. somehow the semi and i both managed to lay over towards the edges of the road just enough for the car to slide between us, and no one was hurt. i have always felt like someone else was steering my car and the semi for us to have made the same choice simultaneously.
regardless of what you call it, feel blessed

No. Angels are created beings not dead people.I have seen both and they are not the same. I saw (with another friend) at 16 ,a lady float out of an abandoned barn, and float the length of the side and disappear. When we were 19 we were at our old elementary school when the drinking fountain proceeded to turn on and off ,the handle too, several times. Then not until I was around 35 I saw an angel standing across the table from me as I was studying for a home fellowship I taught. It was a brief instant an shocked me! I only saw as I looked up,from the table top up,a bit of waist and an arm resting his fingertips on the edge of the table.A very bright translucence.Really took me a back. Then when I was about 46,I was going to work at 4:00 am as always(for 31 years!) I was in the dark hall closing the bedroom door when I knew someone was behind me.I flicked the light on ,no one. Then in the spare bedroom a toy telephone said "Bye-Bye" a couple times. Now that can only happen when you hold down the star and pound buttons at the same time. I knew it was my deceased Dad.He died suddenly a couple of years earlier.I think he found his way back to say goodbye and I never have had another incident and I'm 54.

I can't tell, but I can tell you a stunningly similar story.

We live in Utah, and some of the best ski resorts in the US are very near to where we live.

In 1984, the Canadian band The Fixx came in concert and played a night gig outside at one of the ski resorts. My husband was there with some friends. At one point, he climbed up on a wall that surrounded the patio where the concert was taking place. It was a medium, retaining height wall so that people could look over it and down hundreds of feet into the canyon below. He climbed the wall there specifically because there were no people around to block his view. (I suspect he was trying to get a good view of the drummer's drum set, as he was a drummer for various local bands when he was young). At one point, he turned to look out at the trees and canyon, and lost his footing. He reached in panic for a light pole several feet away. He missed. He was past the point of balance, and on his way to falling to his death when he felt a very strong hand grab his ski jacket right between his shoulder blades and forcefully pull him back. He turned immediately to thank his rescuer, and found to his amazement that the nearest people were at least 25 feet away from him. There was absolutely no human anywhere around him. Yet someone with a very strong hand and a good strong grip had pulled him back from the edge. It is worth noting that my husband is a very big man, and at the time probably weighed in at between 225 and 250. Anyone who could pull him back would have had to be very strong. It's a non-issue, however, because there was not anyone anywhere near him.

My husband isn't much for belief in the supernatural. He never was, and isn't to this day. He is not given to exaggeration or flights of fancy. But he firmly believes that some force outside the realm of human understanding saved his life that night.

Make of that what you will.

Guardian Angel definately!

Many years ago I had the frightening experience of actually falling head over heels, rotating in midair, down a flight of stairs in the office, where I was employed. I was terrified! I screamed! Other people in the office came running, but could only watch my tumbling flight down. I was afraid of what would happen to me once I landed.

There was a heavy metal desk at the foot of the stairs and I was in full motion!

Suddenly it felt as if I was caught in a pair of arms! Although the arms weren't visible.

I came safely to rest at the bottom stair landing on my knees. My left knee was slightly scratched on the metal tack strip that held the carpet on the step in place. The leg of my pant required patching after the tiny blood stain was removed.

I was just shaken and scratched instead of breaking my neck, hitting my head or being killed.

My onlookers, were all shaken, their faces as white as sheets, just from the terror of watching my fall and not being able to help me.

People have died from that sort of fall downstairs. But I didn't.

I truly believe I was rescued by a guardian angel and I believe that you have been too.

We all have Guardian Angels. I'm sure there were many times yours were helping you over there and there was so much going on, you never had time to notice. Does it surprise you that much that God is watching over you?You are his child, of course he is with you: especially in these bad times.I have never got to see mind but once and that was the one that counted.I never saw her but she was there.I was falling, and she caught me.In her arms. Like holding a sleeping child and takeing it to bed or something.I knew the arms were under me, though I couldn't see them.

its all of you and the power of your mind.

you can do anything with your mind and you made yourself "fly" kind of.

but ig uess you can say that it was an angel since angels are something that noone knows what it is. its a force and you can control it.

ive been researching this a lot. also read the book "the secret" or watch the movie. its kind of in those lines.

It's consistent with most accounts of being saved by an angel or guide, and it is also consistent with what I know about angels and ghosts and what they do.

So it's most likely an angel. I don't see why it would be a ghost, but you never know and stranger things have happened.

I'm not sure the name matters. Either way, someone was your friend; that's all that counts. I'd say that you were being reminded that there's something remaining for you to do that you hadn't yet accomplished; if I'd gotten a messge like that, I'd certainly be trying to find it :-)
