But dont you think the culture of Protestantism had a lot to do with the forming of the Constitution? Do you think we should show some gratitude for this? I am a son of Catholic immigrants but I think so but I could be way off here.

I just found out that our business entered the parade, and I have no clue where to begin on making this. It's going to be a night parade, so it will have to have plenty of Christmas lighting. It will have to be very basic and inexpensive, as there's not much time (a few days) to make it, and we are a new store with a very limited budget. The store is a cash advance business. Please help!! Thanks!!

If they are so enlightened you would think they would have better things to do.

My theory is that they know the christians are bound by morality and therefore they cannot defend themselves against cheap shots and name calling.

What do you think?

Oh and If you are an atheist or simlilar, please feel free to prove my theory correct in your answer.

I'd like to become less materialistic, and I wonder how the whole giving up earthly pleasures thing works, like with monks/nuns, priestly types, saints in the desert and all. So they give up earthly delights--money, sex, meat, possessions, whatever they're supposed to give up. Do they eventually stop wanting earthly stuff quite as much, or do they always want stuff and the idea is to build up their resistance to temptation? Does the desire get weaker the longer you avoid something, or does the resistance get stronger?

Not that I'm becoming a nun or anything, but I'm interested in how those principles can be used in daily life for regular folk.

Quran 8:12 "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them." http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/msa/quran/008.q...

Beheadings are mentioned elsewhere in the Quran, however, there are many more efficient ways of killing non-muslims, so why chose beheading?

Some claimed "scholars" I have spoke to assert that Allah prefers beheading because it inflicts greater fear, however, this is impractical in battle and works to the disadvantage of the Muslim army. An effective soldier is one who kills the most, and to burden a solider with the requirement of trying to behead another armed combatent hurts the army's effectiveness.

Obviously beheading is not the most effective way to defeating an armed enemy, so, assuming Allah is not dumb, he would not want to use this battle technique. In which case we must assume this beheading requirement is only for grotesque mutilation.

I am giving gifts to my college professors before the Christmas break. I am planning on giving mugs (with snowflakes painted on the outside) filled with Hershey kisses and flavored coffees or cocoas. Would it be rude or inappropriate to give my Jewish professor a gift as well, saying something like, "Happy Holidays"? Since I'm not Jewish, I have no clue on this type of thing!!!

I am a seventeen year old girl who plays soccer for my school. I was completely naked in the locker room after a game when the male janitor came in and saw me. He asked if he could touch my private parts. He tickled them. Should I tell anyone? It's not like he raped me.

who said:
"God who gave us life and liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed the conviction that these liberties are a gift from God?" - Thomas Jefferson

So why should we believe clueless atheists that are trying to convince us otherwise?

I choose to believe Thomas Jefferson and reject the atheists who are trying to re-write history to suit their own selfish agenda.

Here's a little dilemma: usually, I get my girlfriend a nice Christmas present. Last year, I got her the Victoria's Secret satin bathrobe; another year I took her to a bed & breakfast in Vermont, etc. The question is, what is something nice and romantic to do this year? Here's the catch: I am a little short on money this year. Well, not exactly, but I'm going to propose in January. I'm saving up my money (and some romantic ideas) for the proposal, and I've run out of ideas for Christmas! Thoughts? Thanks!

Who was Santa, where did he come from and how did he become part of Christmas? Also where did the Christmas Tree tradition come from, isnt there a part in the Bible that says "do not decorate trees in the ways of the pagans" Does this passage really exist, and where in the Bible is it?

Serious answers please, this is for a research paper. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.
