If they are so enlightened you would think they would have better things to do.

My theory is that they know the christians are bound by morality and therefore they cannot defend themselves against cheap shots and name calling.

What do you think?

Oh and If you are an atheist or simlilar, please feel free to prove my theory correct in your answer.

I believe everything happens for a reason. My brother was an atheist. He was converted. I trust that everyone here who tried to make fun or give cheap shots actually does read comments from Christians. If the Lord lays a word on their heart they might be saved. For a christian to fire back is one thing they would love to see. Stay above the cheap shots. Remember what they called Jesus!

Atheism is a view on religion and I am Deist (which is a religion, or religion-philosophy). I studied religion in college (objectively) and feel that I am qualified to answer many questions (such as why the Apocrypha was removed from the Old Testament). Granted there is a lot of cheap shots and name calling, but I see it coming from several directions, not just to Christians (Islam seems to be a popular second). I have seen some cheap shots being made by Christians, so I think everybody is guilty.

Because like many insecure people, they rage and rant against christianity because they realize something is missing in their lives and they seem to think its our job to convince them. Angry, insecure people react in antagonistic ways. Best thing to do is just ignore them. Luckily, some of the atheists here are not rabid and actually have interesting questions and answers. Unfortunately, the majority are of the rabid variety.

The rabid atheists also have a problem with comprehending that this isn't a message board, a discussion board or a debate board, it's a question/answer board. Apparently, the high intelligence they keep insisting they have, doesn't grasp this concept so basically they're just lost in the wrong area, which is par for the course. The more sensible ones join message boards to actually discuss religious/spiritual concepts and ideas, but we're apparently stuck with the lessor group. I'm guessing that's because they either can't figure out how to locate messageboards, or because in discussion boards they'd be expected to respond to those opposing them, which they really don't have to deal with here, so they just make one rabid comment and no discussion.

Because Christianity tries to force their religion on everyone even if the other people aren't Christian. And every atheist should be concerned about that and makes an effort to stop it.

However, even though I tend to argue on the side of Atheists (because they just make sense and my religion doesn't deny anything they say), I'm actually Wiccan.

The biggest problem is that most Christians think this is a Christian answers forum and they completely disregard any other belief than their own. And worse, they attack anyone who subscribes to a different religion.

I rarely bring up Wicca on here mostly because I don't want to see the slew of hate, condescention, and patronization that will spew out from most Christians on these forums.

If what you're saying is true because I'm not a politician I can't go into the politics section. Or if I'm not pregnant I can't go in the section and discuss being pregnant.

If you only want people to agree with your beliefs you're in the wrong place.

I would never go to a church and spout out my disagreements that would be crazy, but this is a free forum for different ideas and discussion.

I hope you take note that I'm not taking cheap shots or calling names because I would never do that anyway because I'm an atheist doesn't mean I wasn't taught to have manners.

Thank you. I agree one hundred percent. As a Christian, I try to be a very patient and kind person but some of the things that people post on here regarding Christians, and the Bible, and Jesus are just so offensive that I almost can't help but get angry at times. Thank you for posting this.

I come here to try to understand the collective God delusion. It's fun, and it's funny to watch the righteous convulse in their impotent anger, as you're doing right now. Besdies, I really don't have anything better to do. Can't defend themselves? That's a joke. Not only do they defend themselves, they're frequently nasty about it. So don't go calling the pot black, when the kettle is just as black, okay?

It must be a basic tenant of their faith -- evangelical atheism. I for one do not understand it -- they have nothing to offer people, like a better life, happiness, peace of mind, long life, etc... -- just their purposelessness and sarcasm; they just continually try to raise the ire of Christians because their own lives are so empty. It's just not a strong selling point for me.

They are not comfortable with being Atheist and are searching for answers. They have no faith and this makes them angry so they want to destroy other peoples faith too. They portray that they believe their value and belief system is the only way to go but in reality they are searching for clarification.
I have my own personal values and belief system and am comfortable enough in it to respect others opinions.
