This is my first question here at answers. I am an atheist always have and will be. I have always wanted to know why people believe in religion. I have been researching and have come up with some theories of my own, but I have always wanted to hear from real religious people why they believe (but have always been afraid to ask) in something that has absolutely no real proof, has caused millions of people to die, validates slavery, hate , segregation and oppression yet still promote and believe that this is good for the world. I know that religion has done some good things but in my opinion the cost of one life does not make up for it ,let alone millions.

My boyfriend has not spent a Christmas with his family in several years, and this year he will be spending it with my family.

I want to make it really special for him. What are some Christmas traditions in Mexico? How can I incorporate them into my own celebration without looking like I'm trying too hard?

of what was going on ,yet there is no documentary evidence about jesus by any of them, surelly if someone who purpoted to be the son of god would rate a mention somewhere in their historical papers of the time, whe know what was happening at that time as we learn about it in history , yet not one word mentioned about him,the only writings we have are by people that weren't even there at the time plus its been changed more times than my underpants,so why should we give it any credence at all,ps please no quotes from the n/t ,think for yourselves for a change,

Sorry to keep asking the same question, but it keeps getting violated for no good reason and there is a serious freedom of speech and religion issue here. To the fanatic who keeps violating me: I have lots of points and can keep repeating posting the question indefinitely. That means more and more people are going to see it, and form opinions about it. It also means I’m going to keep asking Muslim questions, when I had intended to move on to other things. neat, huh? Oh, and by the way, your YA account will be terminated, eventually.

Why someone is born in a poor family and why someone in a rich family ? Some people do believe in after life n all. Some people say that it is because of the karma.. in the previous life. No one knows whats the truth...

I don't believe in, you just can't keep on doing sin and enjoy all the comforts of life. I believe in .. that a person has the right.. to only hurt himself and no one else in this world.

Logically speaking if one gets punished for his sins, then it should be in this life.. rather than the next life.. who knows about the next life.. but that generally doesnt happen..

After doing much self research, I have concluded that Hindus Only believe in one god. (Bramah AUM).
I'm a hindu myself, honestly I don't pray to hindu gods, i only follow the path of christianity.

BUT,
my parents are strong hindus, they do not know that im in the Christianity path.
My parents pray to loads of gods, not just the ONE god. So does that mean that its a total waste to pray to the other gods, since the rest of hindu's only believe in one god (bramah?) then why bother having so many hindu festivities that celebrate the victory of other gods ? example Ganesh Chadurthiri is celebrated to remark Lord Ganesh, but why bother celebrating it ? Shouldnt there be just one god like what they believe ?

is it because you got all you want so you feel independent and arogant ? just to remind you all : everything around us is made perfect so is this test called life it is soooo perfect made that you dont even realize it? for example you think because you have some money that you are independent , than look at this : one "be" and your heart stops and gone you are , do you have any control over it ? do you know anything about your heart? do you know anything about how your body functions? still independent?

Ok, Christians, Jews, and Muslims think their God is the one and only God. Hinduism existed 1,500 B.C.E. ago. Where was God then and why didn't he send some angels down to earth to stop them from worshipping the wrong god(s)? Why during those time there God never visited us ? Sure at least one Hindu would have written something about that imaginary God if he ever try to reach out to someone during that era?

Recently watched the latest Amnisty International Policemans' Ball on the telly. We felt it was abysmal and in sad contrast to the original Monty Python, Peter Cook etc., originals - they were funny - I realise humour is like beauty - in the eye and ear of the beholder, but this modern version was all about political satire as apposed to just good old plain humour.

There are some modern comedians and comediens that are talented but they weren't on this show - the skit with Chevy Chase was pathetic and just not funny and he has been in some hilarious movies!

Jack Dee's Lead Baloon is funny or new on the scene - the very talented Catherine Tate - both of these had the sense not to appear on this awful politically correct, lefty diatribe of so called humour!

People want to laugh at every day stuff - not be preached at - jokes about peodophiles even if it is against them are not humerous!!

Does anyone agree that most standup acts of today just don't measure up to their predecessors?
