Adam and Eve were long before the law and were different from us in many ways. they did not have the law to tell them what sin was the bible teachs that without law there is no sin. however without law there was no growth to become more like God. So while Adam and Eve ate of the tree of Knowlege of good and evil it was there first transgression against God as that was disobedience to God all of this was an example of the law that was to come. Now understand that even though the transgression was a bad thing it had a good outcome as they did aqure knowlege and later would aquire the law and would be less like the animals and more like God. Now also understand that Adam and the people of that day lived well over nine hundred years therefore the weded children grandchildren and great grand children and so on could be fairly distant relatives. none the less whee there is no law there was no sin and those folks were not the same as you and I. Now God gave man the law not because man could live up to it but to show him that he could not. the bible teachs al have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and the wages of sin is death. but god knowing this provided a way for his people by coming to the world as a man and overcoming sin and dieing as an atonement for all who accepted it. each of these steps were a progression of man. the man befor the law the man under the law and the man who lives under grace. The next progression of man will be when he is granted a new perfected body. God is the same today yesterday and tommorow but mans realtionship wiht god changes and man himself changes.

There were many animals that looked like man but where not made in the image of God. Only Adam and Eve where made in the image of God. The physical appearance is not the image of God that is referred to in the Bible. It is our intellect and our ability to create that makes us similar to God. Only God and man have the ability of intelligent design.

Adam and Eve were genetically perfect and relations between brother and sisters would not produce mutants as the same relations could today.

Because of the perfect genes men could live much longer than we can today. Most of the pure line of Adam would more likely die of an accident.

At the same time there were males and females that existed that were not of the line of Adam and did not have perfect genes. These people did not have the gift of the image of God. It was one of these that Cain married. The children of Cain no longer had perfect genes and their life span decreased. This intermixing has taken place for thousands of years and the life span of man of the image of God decreased to less than 40 years. Even this is more than enough to choose for or against God.

God is allowing man to learn how to live longer but man is turning to deny life instead. If it is the wish of man to limit the population do not be surprised if God answers your wishes and help man to limit the population. Remember, to God all life has the same value, if you kill the unborn of what greater value is your life.

You either take this story in a metaphorical, nonliteral way, or face the possibility that incest occured.

The same can be asked of Noah's family after the flood. How did they manage to repopulate the earth? Not to mention the pairs of animals too? Scientifically, this is not possible. The genetic variation present in animals and humans today cannot be attributed to noah's mere family or the pairs of animals. Not to mention the fact that if the world were populated by one family alone, so many recessive mutations would show up that their offspring would probably be sterile.

Such stories should be taken with a HUGE pinch of salt. They're useful as a fable, so regard it as one.

Most people do not notice that there are two stories of creation in Genisis. In the first story, it is believed that lilith was created. She prceded Eve and bore the children who Cain would later encounter as adults.

Ahhhhhh, but you forget about Lillith who was really the first wife of Adam ... !
Lilith is revealed in her role as succubus. Her job in this guise is to sleep with men (which they experience as wet dreams), or otherwise collect their semen. Then she becomes pregnant from them and bears demonic children. This process begins with Adam who attempts celibacy for a period of time. That separation from his wife leaves him vulnerable to Lilith (and Naamah, who functions similarly). There may, in this, be an underlying invective against the practice of celibacy as part of religious dedication. Celibacy was obviously a part of Christianity at the time and the story teller may hope to prevent its catching on in Jewish circles. Lilith may also collect semen even from the marriage bed, though. The sage must be careful to ensure that she is denied access to the bedroom through both proper modesty and the performance of prophylactic rituals. Naamah, like Lilith, is a demon-seductress. In that sense their roles appear identical. Naamah, however, doesn't have Lilith's baby-stealer(/corrupter) role
