People in wealthy countries are better educated.

Because wealthy countries tend to provide education to their citizens. Education provides knowledge and reduces ignorance. Educated people are unlikely to follow anything blindly, they look for answers and never stop searching for the truth. They come to their own conclusions based on their knowledge. Some of those people come to the conclusion that there is a higher power, some come to the conclusion that there is no god. In any case, it's an educated approach to whatever people believe. In poorer countries people don't have access to much knowledge and in many cases don't have freedom of religion either, so they follow whatever religion they are made follow by the people in power.

I come from one of the wealthiest countries in the world, but my life has been very far from being a dance on roses. My childhood was hell for reasons I do not wish to share with you and I certainly didn't get everything I wanted or have a perfect and easy life. Religion never had any answers for me though and I have never experienced anything that proves to me or even shows likelyhood of the existence of god, so I simply don't believe there is a god.

By the way, speaking of arrogance, I suggest you read your own question over again and then tell me who is being the arrogant one.

Because with wealth, comes education and the natural conclusions that come with understanding all the things poor countries don't have the time or rights to learn.

This question runs much deeper than your generalization here and involve education, civil rights, state mandated religion, and a thousand other factors. Now ask yourself why most poor countries are so concerned about religion. Then you may start to understand why personal freedom and being able to afford an education will usually lead to being able to stand on your own. Without organized religion telling you how to live.

I understand how my heart and body works and we all have a lot of control over it. Just because there are things you don't understand doesn't mean it's magic.

People in wealthy countries tend to have more education. With more education one can prove that there are lies in the Bible and other religions. They have the opportunity to learn that 2 of every species of living thing on this planet weighs more than 50 million tons. Noah would have needed an Arc a mile long. Religion is used to opiate the masses. That's why there are 10 times more houses of worship in poor neighborhoods as compared to wealthy ones.

I doubt that atheist are the ones with much wealth. Typically, they don't place a lot of value in it. Most atheists I've met are not at all wealthy. What they do tend to have are more education and more opportunities and options on what they can do with their lives. Therefore, they have less need to believe that the powerlessness of their present lives will be rewarded later. They believe that they are responsible and capable of improving their lot in life. Most atheists, btw, seem to care an awful lot more and act to improve the human condition for all than most of the devoutly religious people I've known.

First of all, I'm from Argentina, a very poor country. AND I don't believe in your god.

Secondly, I think that it's more common to see atheists in wealthy countries, because poor countries like mine are a lot more under the dishonest manipulation of the church.

Actually, I know quite a bit. One benefit of living in a wealthy country is an excellent educational system that teaches things like anatomy and physiology as part of most basic college-prepatory curriculums in high school.

The people in poor or underdeveloped countries are either poor and desperate enough to give religion a try ( face it if you have nothing to lose you will try anything to improve your lot) or thaey are poorly educated and are easily brainwashed by 'missionaries '. I have seen the work of these people first hand in some underdeveloped countries and witnessed the brainwashing in order to take advantage of these people.

It is not arrogance it is simply a choice of whether to take responsiblity in ones choices. If u believe "god" controls everything then why should u bother doing aything at all, won't he fix it all for u? It shows a lack of trust in urself if u believe in a "god". When ur heart stops, it stops, there is nothing anybody can do about that, god or no god. it does not mean that someone who doesn't believe in god doesn't appreciate life.

I think difficulties have a way of drawing us closer to God....
Wealthy people who lack such trials do not see a need for prayer ... that 's why Christ said it would be difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.... He said it's difficult, not impossible.
