There is a lot of confusion about when to celebrate the Indian custom of Karva Chauth in the USA this year. In India, people say it's on the 10th of October, 2006. And for most occasions, that would mean we would celebrate it a day later here in the USA, when it is the 10th of October here (10th Oct occurs later here by about half a day). Anyways, the problem/confusion about Karva Chauth is that it's not based on a date... it's based on the phase of the moon. So I guess it's possible that to be 4 days off from the full-moon in the USA might not be exactly the same as it is in India. So some people are saying the customs should be observed on the 9th in the USA and others are saying we should stick to the 10th.

...burning all the priceless Mayan books, robbing us all of their knowledge. In his words: We found a large number of books in these characters and, as they contained nothing in which were not to be seen as superstition and lies of the devil, we burned them all, which they (the Maya) regretted to an amazing degree, and which caused them much affliction." He left future generations with a mixed legacy in his writings which contain much valuable information on pre-Columbian Maya civilization, and his actions which destroyed much of that civilization's history, literature, and traditions.

Can anyone tell me how the tortures, destruction and genocides of peoples in the spreading of Christianity justifies these horrendous acts?

I am 1/2 black, and 1/2 white. White I use as a generic term, as well as black.

I personally find the term African-American offensive. I was born here, and do not want to be hyphenated. An immigrant who is from Africa, and naturalized is African-American to me...(Origin of birth -- Current residence).

A white South African who is naturalized is technically African-American to me, though most would say that isn't correct.

To hyphenate someone who is born somewhere is not proper, as it suggests they are not native to that land.

I do not know alot of my father's (black) side, and lineage, and believe black is most proper. Since blacks were considered property for 400 years, I doubt any accurate records could be found.

Convince me why I should accept African-American if Euro-American is not an official term.

Animal, the drummer from Dr. Teeth's band, has asked me out on a date. He's clearly a monster, and I'm a humanoid puppet. Do you think it will work, religiously speaking? I'm already having a hard time understanding him, and I hear he beats it a lot.

Just about every day when I drive, some idiot decides that he/she is going to cut in front of me. No signaling, no warning, nothing. It's so very rude, not to mention very dangerous. What shall we do with these people. I have a few ideas, but none of them are legal.

If Job was before Abraham Right?

Job 1:6-7
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

And the Lord said unto Satan, wherce comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

Is this talked about like this in any other book other then Job?

has it ever happened to you when you have been the type of person who almost all of your life you have believed in God, or in other words, since the day you were born you were taught to believe in God and you did, and practically all of your life you kept faith and love and yes, many times God answered your prayers, you had a real good bond, and then...one day, or better to say, one period in your life, you were going through a tough moment and you prayed and you prayed for help, for aid, for strength, for anything to help you go through this and you felt like you didnt recieve a bit of help from God...and you felt that moment that he wasnt there for you at all...no matter how hard you tried to pray, i know to take away the problem since that isnt the solution, but to help you go through it and (and im talking this happening for a long period) and nothing changed, nothing helped, you felt lost and alone...God wasnt there for you at all...

has that ever happened to you?

I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
