My favs have been stuff I've done my kids in - my son was Davy Crockett one year & we managed to make it pretty authentic! I was really scrambling to get all the pieces to that assembled & he got ticked off because even tho he had on the famous "coonskin cap" everybody kept calling him Daniel Boone! lol Last year my daughter was a mummy & I wrapped her in cheesecloth strips that had been stained in tea so they looked all brown & crumbly. It was great - but as the evening progressed she kept "unravelling" - it didn't matter tho, because it made it look more authentic! She's going to be a vampire this year & he wants to be a soldier from the 173rd Airborne division. I'm going to be Glinda the Good Witch from the Wizard of Oz. I was at Disney World for Halloween one year & they let the employees run loose in the costume/makeup department - WOW!! I saw some stuff that year that blew me away! let's just say they knew how to use the makeup & props!!
As for movies - there are loads of them! Hocus Pocus is fun, all of the Halloweentown series are kewl (any of the Disney Halloween movies are great, actually) Poltergeist will scare the pants off ya, War of the Worlds would be an excellent choice,
any of the old Universal "Monsters" movies (Frankenstein, the Mummy, Dracula, the Wolfman, Creature from the Black Lagoon) the Little Vampire is great, Monster House, the first Halloween movie, Carrie, Friday the 13th - I could go on & on
with movies!
Whatever you do - just enjoy!!

The best costume I can remember was back when I was a kid in the 80's and this guy was dressed up in the V costume. Now for anyone who remembers the Show "V" from the 80's you would know what I am talking about! Anyone remember the Kooky Spooks....lol!! " Yes I am showing my age here"
As for Scary movies I would say all the of the Halloween Movies with Michael Myers! They were really scary to me as a kid. The other movie is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre!! Now that was a scary movie!

I've never really seen a costume that 'wowed' me, lol.
But my favorite movie to watch on Halloween is Pet Cemetary. Also try Silent Hill, just watched it the other day and it's freaky.

One year, I put together a pregnant hippie costume at the last minute, picked up an old 70's prom dress at the Goodwill, put flowers in my hair, wore little round granny glasses. I put fiberfill over my stomach, held it in place with pantyhose (you know how you can pull the tops of pantyhose up to your chin)
We went out to a party at a bar, I was drinking and having a good time and I kept getting dirty looks from people, they were whispering and pointing, one girl came up to me and said I was SICK for drinking while I was pregnant!
And "Halloween" is my favorite Halloween movie.

1. I was just going to be a nun & then my friends said it would be funnier if I was a pregnant nun, so I had some clothes in my car & I stuffed them under there.
2. Texas Chainsaw Massacre & all the 'Halloween' movies.

My favorite costume was my friend James'. He wore a costume where his head appeard to be that of a baby, that an old woman was carrying. His own legs were supposed to be the old woman's. so he would run around pretending to cover up the eyes of the old woman; it appeard that the old lady was running around aimlessly!
haha, sorry, it's so funny, but i have a hard time describing it.
