has it ever happened to you when you have been the type of person who almost all of your life you have believed in God, or in other words, since the day you were born you were taught to believe in God and you did, and practically all of your life you kept faith and love and yes, many times God answered your prayers, you had a real good bond, and then...one day, or better to say, one period in your life, you were going through a tough moment and you prayed and you prayed for help, for aid, for strength, for anything to help you go through this and you felt like you didnt recieve a bit of help from God...and you felt that moment that he wasnt there for you at all...no matter how hard you tried to pray, i know to take away the problem since that isnt the solution, but to help you go through it and (and im talking this happening for a long period) and nothing changed, nothing helped, you felt lost and alone...God wasnt there for you at all...

has that ever happened to you?

Many of us go through a period in our lives like you are describing..

It happens when we are trying to avoid something that God has provided to help us gain an important understanding. We pray and ask God to change or take the situation away. He does not do what we ask because the situation is vital to our spiritual growth.
God loves us dearly and will not do anything that will impede our spiritual growth. We think we are being ignored but actually these situations are provided for us with a loving intent.

We think of our selves as knowing what is best for us. We often pray to God to change things that we don't like. We assume that we know better than God about what is good for us. So we try to wise God up a bit and give him some advice.

How likely is it that we know better than God what is in our best interest?

love and blessings

I'm so sorry to hear you are having hard times!!! I too believe in God and have felt Him to be so far away . Four years ago I had a still-born baby, I was heart broken-- why God did you let this happen to ME???? I see now that I am able to feel other people's pain and empathize. This world can be cruel, people do not always care what you are going through. When my parents divorced a long time ago and I felt the world was falling apart, I was so sick inside- I prayed that my parents would "get it together"-- instead they were bitter and hateful and did terrible things, other people got involved as well and stirred up more trouble- I made it through those times and many more.
In the Bible it says that the hard times produce patience. (I don't know exactly where or the exact words.) I look back on the hard times I've been through and realize that they have helped be a stronger person. Some people chose to get bitter- others make the right decisions. I will pray for you! Perhaps sharing what you are going through with a counselor will help? I hope this helps!

I did go through along time with a problem like yours, about a year and a half I was struggling and trying to find happiness. I wasn't doing good things and I went into depression. I couldn't feel the spririt anymore and I was very irritated by people and very snappy. and I wasn't myself, my personality went down the tubes. and i became very quit. but I am out of it now, and I know where I went wrong. I had to look at my life and see what i was doing that would not Please God. You see God is always there but sometimes we just don't bother looking, I think in your case you could have been or still are. but he is there. for me I had to go through this really rough trial to become the person I am today, I am much stonger spiritually and physically. Nothing was done in vain. even though I did not feel that he answered my prayers he did, very subttley, of course at the time it did not seem like he was. but I had to step back and look at the whole picture to find that he was there through all of that year and a half and I am very grateful for what he has done for me.

You'll get through this, Maybe if you focused and did service for others you will feel his spirit once more. remember God is the Comforter and peace maker.

Our prayers are not always answered in the way we want them to be answered. They are answered .... It may take a couple of years to see that they were answered and to realize that what happened served a purpose in our lives that we could not see at the time. I am sorry that you are going through a difficult time. I hope you see resolution soon. If at all possible, Let Go -- Let God. That is easy to say and damned hard to do. Best Wishes.

I think we all go through times when we feel alone, but if you continue and don't give up, God is faithful. You'll be amazed at what He will do. Sometimes we don't understand, but that's why it's called faith. Don't lose heart.

Read Hebrews chapter 10 and let God encourage you

it has happened to me and all you can do is keep your faith in God b/c he is there with you even if you can't feel him around you. He might be testing your faith to see if you really have faith in him that he will see you through it... so if I were you I would just pray and ask God to take the problem from you that you are giving it to him now b/c you can't do it anymore and then have faith that God will do that....

Yes It is happening to me to, It's very difficult. Just remembe the foot prints in the sand story when you see only one set of foot prints in the sand... you are not walking alone... God is carrying you on His back. Sometimes his apparent no answer could be "Wait". The Psalmist says "be of good courage and wait on the Lord" Hey hang in there my prayers go out to you.

yes, but i didn't completey lose hope on God. God know every thing and does eveything for a reason. He might not have answered because He knows it isn't good for you. For example, if you pray for a bike and never get one, it may be because He knows you will get hit by a car while riding it. He may wait till you mature, or He might not give it to you at all.

Saint John of the Cross writes about this and describes it as The Dark Night of the Soul. Many view it as a purifying process. Most people who choose to deepen their spirituality experience this sort of thing at one time or another.

I've never had God answer any of my prayers. If God had EVER answered a prayer of mine, I would have believed forever. If God answered 1 prayer and then never did anything else for me, I'd believe. The prayers that you had answered were just coincidences. When you think God is helping you, it's just luck. Religion acts like a placebo. It makes you think that you're being helped when in reality it's you doing the helping.
