When do we really find out who we are? Is it a certain age, or life experience that causes us to realize who we are? Do you know who you are?

There was this FX series Black White that was shown in rerun. The Caucasian man in the project, Bruno, seem ti think racism and Jim Crow doesn't exist. that be you Hispanic, Black etc, you would generally be treated as any white person it all comes down to your attutude and out look. He also said he was never stopped by the cops for no reason. I would find that strange. Since I started driving, and I have been driving more than 25yr as a minority. I have been stopped 6 times, that I can remember, for no apparent reason. Tailed for blocks 3 times but not stopped. And twice been stopped on foot and questioned why I was in the neighborhood I was in. How many times have you been stopped and dressed down?

In the speech in Germany on Tuesday, the Pope referred to criticism of the Prophet Mohammad by 14th century Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Palaeologus.

The emperor said everything Mohammad brought was evil "such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached".

Using the terms "jihad" and "holy war", the 79-year-old Pope said violence was "incompatible with the nature of God".

...were "evil and inhuman." In response, no fewer than 8 churches were fire bombed and or burned down by Muslims in protest.

My question is: If Muhammad taught you to burn down churches whose parisioners have done nothing to you, then the quote is accurate, is it not?

Despite being Catholic, myself, I am usually defending Muslims and explaining Islam to my less learned friends. I have many Muslim friends, and although they as well as I are/am sympathetic, this kind of behaviour does not help the Muslim cause/struggle. Moderate Muslims--you must speak out against your violent brethren.

My only target is people who seem to me to be unable to say I do not know and leave it at that. I do not know that God did exactly this or that and proponents of evolution can not show that anything that happened here on earth could not have happened in a lab (perhaps destroyed by a cataclism or located somewhere else) under a controlled environment. No one knows if we are living in a often reused test tube of sorts or if we are alone in the galaxy spinning round, subject to forces under no ones control.
My problem is people who spend vast amounts of energy trying to persuade others that their pet theory is right. We do not know. If we can create life in a test tube then somebody b4 us could have.
evolution proponents seemingly blindly refuse to achknowledge that It is not scientific to teach theory as fact. It limits thinking to the new generation who might discover the truth if not blinded by notions taught by people who PERHAPS in error think they are superior to all.PERHAPS

I was raised Catholic. I have so strongly disagreed with the Catholic belief system and religion in general I am atheist.

The pope said something you disagreed with and or found offensive. When you desecrate Catholic churches and riot it makes you look less than peaceful.

I'm sorry but I don't find the Quran to be flawless or contain a perfection of philosophy. The Quran like the Bible contains a lot of cruelty and violence. They both contain some great standards to live by as well.

I have no favortism towards major religions ( okay maybe Toaism or Buddhism.) I would have to lean toward Christianity as being more of a religion of peace than Islam.

I destest a lot of Catholic church principals more than you can imagine. I'm not going to beat up a priest or desecrate a church.

Why as a rational person should I believe Islam is a religion of peace?

They are not as important as anyone else on this planet.
And I would call them by their first names if I met them. No one is 'your majesty' or 'your holiness' in my world.

If people just didn't think at all, they wouldn't think to start wars. Nazi Germany and Stalinist Russia weren't religious. Sure, blame religion for the evils. We have too many homeless shelters and soup kitchens anyway.
