ok im seeng lots of god related questions lately, and i came to wondering- why do people believe in god? if you do- WHY do you?

personally, i dont. full stop. i dont believe in a creator, where science can back up so much. why trust in a book written by someone serveral hundreds of years ago, which has more than likely become a game of chinese whispers through the years. when was it first suppose to be documented? is there any proof of this?
miracles shmiracles. there's a song by Lou Barlow, called 'Mary', to be this song is much more believeable than the 'Virgin' crap we get fed. (in my opinion)
believe what you want, as long as you dont throw it down my neck like SOME door-to-door knocking people, i dont care what you believe. i just wondered what are your REASONS for it?

I wrote several letters of apology yesterday, not about my question, but the way I worded it. I agree, it was judgemental, self centered, and very inappropriately done. Now everyone, and especially you, Jack whoever, I don't care to hear any more from you and this is definitely my last apology. Like I said, not for my question, but the way I worded it. God tells me to spread the word. If you don't want to accept it, so be it, but don't try to sell me any other religion or atheism, and I will say God Bless all I want. Like you so bluntly put it, this is a free country, after all.

This is a deceiver and a
Anti-Christ (Anti-anointed).

How could you fit two of every animal on a ship only slightly larger than a football field?
What about carnivores? Were there extra live animals brought on board for them to eat?
What about other specific animals such as the Koala that eat only fresh Eucalyptus leaves?
If you couldn't fit all the animals on board, how can you fit the animals and their food?
Where did all that extra flood water come from? Where did it go?
How did 8 (or so) people take care of all those animals?
What about all the inbreeding after the flood?
Where is the fossil evidence?
What about freshwater and saltwater fish in a mixed environment?
What about trees and plants?
What about animals that died on the ark? Did they forever become extinct?
What about the tons of animal poop?
If the ark took 100 years (or even 10) to prepare and build, wouldn't it be rotten by the time it started to rain?

I am sometimes confused about this issue. Some say when you are saved you're saved. other people make it seem like if you sin after you are saved and you die before asking for forgiveness then you go to hell. That seems to me like being saved by works. What is your opinion?

Things like whatever the Japanese equivalent of Covey's "7 Habits" would be. Obviously, I'm not asking this for myself, but for a Japanese living here in the USA. I think it would be easier/cheaper to order from an American source, if there is one. If not, how complicated/expensive is it to order from Japanese sources?

Would we put instances of famous out of body explorers, psychic predictions, shamanistic ceremonies, mysteries of the stars, our scientific advancement, rituals we use to bring like minds together, examples of modern day spiritual healers, stories of rags to riches because of self-determintation. It seems like god never left, did it. History does teach us alot of important lessons, but things are happening now too. It seems like the bible was a compilation of all the above. If you weed out all the judging stuff, I think we got something here. Get curious, learn other cultures. We are all brothers and sisters right. Love is eternal, even now.

She was 64 a 6th grade teacher from New Zealand. My best friend for over 10 years. She was about 18 years older than me. We enjoyed shopping, traveling, and working together. She was an animal lover also. I miss her terribly. Would like a poem or prayer that I could share with others trying to let them know how much she ment to me and so she won't be forgotten by others that maybe didn't know her or understood her. If you don't have a nice answer please do not reply. I couldn't take something derrogative today. Thanks a million.
