Don't get involved. You principles sound good but you too though could just be speaking bollocks.

I know a lot of people who have. The only time I have done it was when I knew that if the spouse knew, it would turn into a violent altercation.
A lot depends on what the lie is about and how you feel. I pride myself on being open and honest. A lot of times I'll just tell a friend, I won't lie for you, but I won't offer your secrets up on a silver platter either.

I would lie to the spouse if I didnt really like them. But it also depends on how BIG the lie is, and how good of a friend your friend is to you. I would lie for my best friends for almost anything.

You must absolutely stand by your principles. A friend who would ask you to help them to deceive someone may not be a friend for long but your principles will see you through the rest of your life.

Personally I wouldn't lie for someone. It will catch up with you if you do. If your friend really is your friend she will know how you feel about lying. Your best bet is to encourage them to be truthful. Honesty really is the best policy.

Personaly no. If your freind was a true friend they wouldn't put you in that position. If they have something to hide dont let them put it on you! And if it helps expalin how you feel to your friend. Ultimately its up to you...good luck, though I know you'll make the choice right for you, wink wink..

If the friend and the spouse get back together, both parties will resent you.

Create as much distance between yourself and that situation.
Your friend will respect you for it later.
