The entirely unearthly Mithras was worshipped as the "Good Shepherd", "the Way, the Truth and the Light", and as a redeemer, saviour and Messiah. Mithras was supposed to have been born to a virgin on what is now 25 December, and was visited by shepherds and Magi. He travelled and taught, cast out devils, made miracle cures, held a last supper, was killed, buried in a rock tomb and rose again after three days, at the time of the spring equinox in March (equivalent to the Christian Easter). Mithraism included baptism and Sunday worship, with a Eucharist and sacraments.

Mithra's birth was witnessed by shepherds and by Magi bearing gifts to his sacred birth-cave of the Rock (J. Smith 146). Mithra's image was buried in a rock tomb, a sacred cave that represented his Mother's womb. This was ritualistically removed each year, and he was said to live again. Mithra's triumph and ascension to heaven were celebrated during the spring equinox.

The similarities are striking.

I'm 21 year old female and I'm afraid to drive where I live. I live in the suburds by the way. Some people asks me do I drive and I tell them the truth and most of them look at me as I'm crazy or very weird or something. Basically, I'm afraid to drive because I'm afraid I might get injured or killed someone. So, is there anything I can do about this so, I can get over my fear of driving?

This experience with Israel tells us with great certainty that Jews do not want and cannot develop a normal nation.

A people who are not honest about themselves, a people who always paint themselves as victims, a people who see themselves as separate and exceptional are not like the rest of us and they will be the first to tell you so. They cannot assimilate because their enculturation is so deep and thorough. A people who prey upon the other must live in a diaspora; they are not a people who can become a normal nation. Israel's beginnings were not normal; sixty years and a trillion dollars later and they are no closer to being normal.

For Gabor, who denies that he is Jewish Jew, it is not possible for him to override his Jewish enculturation. He exhibits attitudes and allegiances that only a Jew could. For example, he knows very well that Jews don't need Israel as a refuge but he still supports an aggressive Jewish takeover of Palestinian lands. Why is that?

Is it really a good thing to have 24 hour businesses or do you think it might have been better in the 1950's when most places were only open between 9- 5 Monday through Fridays so that people had more time to spend at home with their families? Do you think the country would have a lower divorce rate?.

I am a straight Christian (does a pre-conceived notion of the kind of person I am pop up in your mind?) who believes that the act of homosexuality is a sin, not because I want it to be, but because the Word of God says it is (see Romans1:22-27). I do not hate sinners. I am one. So my question is, do you hate me?

Since this format does not allow for debate, I do not seek answers focusing on the veracity of the Bible (a pertinent but separate and altogether complex issue), but rather the seemingly ironic "Christian-phobia" among many in the gay community, which is rooted in the same kind of prejudice that homophobia is.

I mean, a VIRGIN......really, before you answer, just sit down and think about that. Stew on it for a moment.

OK, has it sunk in yet? You actually believe that a woman who never experienced sexual intercourse gave birth to a child.

And Bible Answer Man, if you're going to answer this question, please refrain from doing so by quoting scripture. I have a degree in religious studies, so it is really pointless to do so.

This Universe indeed displays a remarkable vista of order and consistency. We can observe, for example, the great regularity with which the celestial bodies follow precise orbits, and marvel at the way in which water from the seas is brought to the land by wind-driven clouds, which are in turn formed by the evaporation of water: without this replenishment, life would be impossible. We are also amazed by the migration patterns of many species, including newborn eels, that trek through thousands of miles of ocean, to nestle in their own local streams, and of bees, who use sunlight for navigation in their quest for nectar. We may ponder as to why all living things exist in pairs, and contemplate on the optimality of the processes which comprise the whole universe.
