Armageddon refers generally to end times or giant, apocalyptic catastrophes in various religions and cultures. It may also refer to any great loss of life in battle or use of weapons of mass destruction.
The word Armageddon is thought to be derived from the Hebrew words Har Megido (הר מגידו), meaning "Mountain of Megiddo". The site referred to is a valley plain called Megiddo, the location of many decisive battles in ancient times, including the Battle of Megiddo. There is no literal "mountain of Megiddo" anywhere in the Promised Land, although there is an archaeological mound nearby, representing the ruins of at least 20 cities that flourished between 5,000 years ago and 650 BC. Some would argue that the word Armageddon is an early example of a mondegreen.
The only mention of the word Armageddon in the Bible appears in Revelation 16:16: "And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon" (KJV).[1] The Bible includes many passages that refer to the concept of Armageddon, however. But this specific Bible prophecy reference is ambiguous whether any event actually takes place here, or whether the gathering of armies is only to be seen as a sign.
In fact, a gathering of the Roman army occurred at this place as a staging ground for one of their assaults on Jerusalem in AD 67. This is consistent with the preterist interpretation that the events of Revelation 16:17-21 refer to events culminating in the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70. However, one indication that the book predicts a future event is the mention of an army from the east of two hundred million, a number that would not have been likely in any battle of that period.
Before the Second World War, the First World War was commonly referred to in newspapers and books as "Armageddon", in addition to "the Great War".
Personally, I don't belive anything in the book or Revealtion. It shouldn't be in the Bible, as it's all Anti-Roman propaganda and conflicts with everything else. Jesus never mentioned it, or alluded to it but many people will twist his words to make them fit their beliefs. Armageddon really refers to a place, by the way.

The game is set to end in one of several ways which are called wild card events (nuclear, alien invasion, meteor or natural disaster like the underground volcanoe due to errupt anytime which will be 1000 times larger than mt. st. helens last eruption) before 2012. This existence is a game played by spirits and the planetary spirit has been animating planet earth for over 4.5 billion years and has a expiration date of 12-21-2012, all life must be extinguished before 2012. The planetary spirit has a much different path of experiences than spirits who animate humans or aliens as such. There is another planet designated for what is called the simultaneous experience in 3rd density for those still needing the experience. This is from a spiritual perspective that I get my info, but I have seen on tv lately shows showing the same scenarios regarding the same subject, so there must be something to it. The good thing is in knowing that the true self is eternal an this is just a game.

Yes, all christians do. God did tell us about the end times and what will happen, everything in the bible. However, he did not put in the date of this armageddon in the bible. Why? That's because if he placed the date, we could prepare for it. We could be "devils" when we know the time is far and then become "angels" for the sake of going to heaven and knowing that the time is near. What is the point then? God puts us to the ultimate test, whether we choose his path or stray away. Which way are you going, onnicked? But remember, you shouldn't turn to God based on the Armageddon and your fear of it, ok?
God Bless You! =)

Armageddon is a place in Israel. Somewhere around Mt. Carmel, I believe. It's pretty hard not to believe in a geographical location, although I have my doubts about France. If you mean the event though, then my answer is a resounding "no." I am an atheist. And even if I were a Christian, it wouldn't change the fact the John of Patmos, the author of the Book of Revelation, was on hallucinogenic 'shrooms.

Are you referring to this verse in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ?
Rev 16:16 So they assembled them at the place called in Hebrew Armagedon.
Yes, I believe the battle will take place as Jesus stated that it will.
No man knows the date or time.
Mar 13:29 In the same way, when you see these things happening, know that He is near--at the door!
Mar 13:30 I assure you: This generation will certainly not pass away until all these things take place.
Mar 13:31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.
Mar 13:32 "Now concerning that day or hour no one knows--neither the angels in heaven nor the Son--except the Father.
Mar 13:33 Watch! Be alert! For you don't know when the time is coming.
Be ready!

Yes I believe!
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.
18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.
19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

No one knows the date but I'm sure someone will lie to you.
All human predictions have been wrong. There are over 200 documented cases.

Here, armageddon will happen in 1994!
Sept. 15, 1994: Last Day and Return of Christ; Harold Camping; Book: 1994 (pub in 1992) "Last Day and return of Christ sometime on or between September 15, 1994...and September 27, 1994." (p. 531) "I will be surprised if we reach October 1, 1994" (p. 533)
I guess we are all dead already!

Hello, I'm a Catholic acolyte and amateur theologian.
The apocalyptic view of religion reduces a beautiful spiritual philosophy and history to a bad dungeons and dragons game. Even if you believe in the Armageddon story in Revelations, this is a story of the future. Our job is the here and now and what God does in the end times is not for us to argue over or, god forbid, try and hasten. Anyone who believes int he bible and god who does ANYTHING to bring about the end times has committed a mortal sin.
Also allow me to point out, EVERY culture in every time has felt that Armageddon was upon them. Times are ALWAYS trying, there are ALWAYS wars and ALWAYS evil men that profit by violence and greed. Using Armegeddon has a means to absolve yourself of reponsbility (ie. Revelations is upon us so I don't have to worry about the laundry) is not a sin, but it is misguided bafoonery.

Yeah its going to happen, but we will all have moved to some other planet because we have depleted all of earth's natural resources. And then Jesus will come to earth and be like"What the ****. Where is everybody? Where are all of my children?"
And then once on our new planet, everybody will join Scientology and become really, really scary. Like super scary, Tom Cruise scary. Many will actually praise Tom Cruise as our messiah and we will be forced to watch nothing but All the Right Moves and Cocktail all day long, with our eyes clamped open. Kinda like in a Clockwork Orange.
...but that is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Armageddon is just another long word for when Jesus comes back and there is no specific date but "Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book" Rev. 22:7........ Jesus never gave a specific date but he is coming soon, *soon for him could be 100 years for us*
