Like when you move your arm or wake up in the morning you have a basic instinct feeling that you are in your own body and you don't need to be taught this. Considering that the mind is a control and the body can't exist without the mind why don't you feel like you are a sepearte entity controlling the body almost like third person. Like you would control a computer or video game. Can you make your mind behave in the manner.

I get very distracted from what ever I'm doing like I'm always daydreaming constantly. Its like I can't clear my mind. I don't know if I'm stressed or depressed. I don't know what is wrong with me. This topic is full of contridiction in our society. On one hand people think that they should get married to have children and while there are certain tax benefits to this, there are also marriage penalties. Our "relationship experts" also go against this reasoning and say that you should be happy in a marriage and should not get married just for the sake of the children. Our society also says that we should get married to gain from another what we lack, but we are also socially taught to be strong self individuals. Religion says that you should get married as man and woman, but come death or judgement day and your soul is alone and is not judged based on the performance of your spouce. Where do you stand on all 3 aspects (financial, social, and religious) of this major contridiction and what does your stance say about our society?

....by looking @ their shoes? My friend told me that, and we both looked at our shoes, hers being some Jimmy Choo strap heels, mine being some beat-up high tops.
She said thats proves I'm lazy and easygoing, and she's classy.

True?

I ve been thinking about free will these days.
If we choose where we are born, our parents, our life circumstances, then that is free will ....
and then we choose our reactions to these
...that is again free will :)
the funny thing to me ... I don't see how we make our free will...
sometimes we have crazy thoughts in our heads ...and they can be so because we are not healthy or sth ...
and we do react sometimes ... not in our full brains , that s what i mean
so what do you think is free will
this is a very metaphysical question
I expect no straghtforward answers,,, so don't worry

My mother has been treated my father like crap for the last 25 years. He's done everything she asked of him but it's never good enough. He stuck around because he didn't want me and my brother to come from a broken home as he grew up without his dad around.Watching all this going on has made a huge impact on me and I'm afraid that I'll treat my husband just as she's treating my dad one day as I'm treated some boyfriends like that too. She's incredibly self-centered and greedy and I'm terrified of turning into her. What can I do to make sure I never repeat her mistakes?I'm only 19 and the though of becoming like her terrifies me.

Sir "william osler" the Father of Modern Medicine, mentioned the key behind his success in life which is "Live within the confines of your day" , which means to focus all your attention and be centered within your current day, yesterday was a dream, and tomorrow is a blank page.
each day you wake up from bed is a whole new life for you.
this doesn't mean to don't plan for the future or learn from our mistakes from the past. but just synchronizing your brain over time. to avoid stress and negative useless thinking. and be focused in the moment.
I've been suffering all my life specially the last years, looking for a practical method(rule) to live. i've tried to divide my life into steps where each step has it's own work style to follow(concentrate on each step, when it's turn comes), and tried to use different rules in the same fashion. but i don't know what is the best.
what do you think about sir William's idea?
do you have other ideas/rules, to synchronize brain with time?

My question is 'a free individual can only exercise free will'. We necessarily depends upon many for fulfilling our needs. For instance, parents, brothers, wife, children, friends, collegues, driver, dry cleaner, waiters in restaurants, etc. We are not able to stop the thinking mind. It runs always endlessly. The external influences of the outer world plus the internal influences, viz., desires, anger, emotion, aim of life, economy, comforts make you crazy. In addition society, etiquette, religious beliefs etc bear their influence upon you. With all these can you assert you are free and possess a 'free will' to stear you. without any influence or affluence.
