When i lay down to sleep, my mind is always thinking of crazy things. Never stopping even when I sleep. I lay in bed and an hour or two wil go by and I realize that I'm not asleep. I get very distracted from what ever I'm doing like I'm always daydreaming constantly. Its like I can't clear my mind. I don't know if I'm stressed or depressed. I don't know what is wrong with me. So can someone give me an explaination on what is going on?

I don't have ADD or ADHD? And sleeping pills don't let me sleep very long for the simple fact I'm back up in 3 hours.

You're stressed out if you're thinking crazy things before you go to sleep.
If you're laying there not able to fall asleep it could be evidence that you are stressed out or that you are consuming caffeine or foods with a high sugar content before bed. There is likely something stimulating your system that is not letting you sleep, more than just stress.
If you're depressed you'd be sleeping over 9 hours/day and feeling tired a lot of the time. If that's the case, see your doctor for some anti-depressant medication.
Physiologically our mind only shuts down during deep sleep but no one is ever aware of it. We perceive that we jump from dream to dream but there are hours or minutes between each dream where our mind is not producing any active thoughts.

Yes your mind does run 24/7. However, it depends on what you are thinking about. I am bipolar and I have OCD. I don't hardly sleep at all. The same thing happens to me when I try to sleep. Hours pass and I am still not asleep, so then I start to toss and turn, then I get so aggravated, that I just get up. I have tried sleeping pills, exercise, and other things and they don't help me. So, I look at it like this, eventually I will become exhausted and my body will want sleep. As far as depression, you will know if you have it. You will not have the will to do anything. You will just want to lay in bed, and sigh a lot. Of course, there are other things that go with depression. That is just what happens to me. I would talk to your doctor. Do some research. It is possible that you have ADD. You may not be hyper, but you do have a very hard time concentrating. My daughter has it. She went from D's and F's, to A's and B's. It is amazing what medicine can do for you. Good Luck, I hope this helps.

Yes, I feel like my mind runs 24/7 at times, when I am under alot of stress especially. I usually try to read a good book to take my mind away from everything. Sometimes, if I can just get into the storyline, I will get wrapped up in the world of the book and the characters. That helps me at least escape my own thoughts for a while. It sounds like you are under a lot of stress or pressure in your life right now and your mind is just on overload. You've got to try to find something to distract your mind for a while so that you can calm your thoughts and your body. I also find that writing things down that are bothering me or on weighing on my mind helps. Just getting them out of your head and putting them on paper can be a relief. Keep a notebook and just whatever is bothering you or going back & forth in your head, write it all down and then close the book. Don't reread what you've written or think about how you are phrasing it, just write. This is very therapeutic. I hope you can find some peace& calm!

there is definitely something wrong with you you need to see a doctor there are so many diagnosis out there My mind runs 24/7 also but if it stopped i be dead. Maybe your life is too crazy right now and you need to slow down. Try relaxation techniques or if you cant sleep get up and exercise read a book until you do get sleepy eventually you will. something is causing you to be restless and since I'm not you i dont know what it is. But you might take some time to stratagize a plan and then act on it when you feel like your going crazy

Yes, your brain is constantly active - from before you are born to the time you die (brain death being a commonly used definition of "true" death).
It's impossible to tell, online, what your situation is, but from what little you've told us it seems you are hyperactive quite a lot of the time and find it difficult to concentrate on anything for very long.
Have you consulted a doctor? It is just possible that you have ADD (or ADHD). It wouldn't hurt to get a definite diagnosis one way or the other.
