is rapacious capitalism one?

or is t.v rotting peoples morality?

what about the influence of seedy squalid newspapers?

are we giving our kids the wrong type of education?

what about scandal/gossip mags that make people compare themselves unfavourably with what the rich and famous have got.

is advertising becoming more pernicious, and making us feel like we never have enough of the good things in life.

are banks fanning the corruption with their easy lending rules, turning youngsters into me me me..now now now impatient selfish people?

something has obviously been having a corrosive effect down the decades to make recent generations less considerate...surely it is not beyond our brightest minds to discover exactly what.

if it is a combination of the above...ie many causes...what can we do to reverse the trend?

I have a friend whi is exhibiting these behaviors but it doesn't seem to fit any classic eating disorder. Here are her symptoms, can you tell me what she has?

-Intense fear of gaining weight
-Obsession with losing weight
-Not eating, or eatiing very little (only when no one is watching)
-Misuse of enemas

She doesn't exercise that much (doesn't really have a place to), but started this behavior about 1-2 weeks ago because her husband is a jerk who keeps telling her she's fat and comparing her to other women.

If she keeps this up, what will happen to her? Will she loose the weight she wants? And is there anything I can do to help? I'm scared she's gonna hurt herself.

Maybe it is a common human complaint, I dont know. I am not overtly unhappy (as such) my life is good - you know loving family not starving and roof over my head. But I constantly struggle with the drudge and am always waiting for something to happen - good or bad. I am constantly fighting an apathy about life when I should be embracing it and seeing the joy in the little things - and most of the time I fail. Ive done counselling and anti depressants and neither seemed to take away this existensial crisis I seem to go through most of the time. Any suggestions?

How to please others? Is it necessary to please others? How to keep others satisfied? Best way to please others is doing as per demand but it is not necessary to express own views? If we express, others get irritated.

I think my girlfriend has BPD. We have been dating 6 years and I love her to death, but no matter what I do she complains that I don't love her enough. She is HORRIBLE when we fight and says and does the most hurtful things. She also has a wonderful side that I fell in love with and get to see from time to time. Disagreements start much like they would in any other relationship, but she gets so cruel so fast that it escalates into something really ugly. How can I deal with her when she gets like this?

I recently found put that people think of suicide on average at leats five times throughout their life but i've thought of it way more and am quite young. I think sometimes it's just to put on the dramatics but others i really think about how i'd do it and stuff. like for example, if i was to take my own life i wouldn't cut, shoot myself or anyhitng that hurts, i'd probably gas myself or overdose on some kind of prescription pill. wow...i really sound suicidal but i actually have a great life, sometimes i'm a bit of a drama queen i reckon. phew...now that i've vented, on to the question!
