This is not a judgmental, anti-alcohol question. I have no problem with people who drink. Most of my friends do. But I'm just curious. I never liked drinking (designated driver here), but many of the people I know do. And not just one or two drinks.. They love to consume until they are completely wasted. If they go out to a function, the drinking becomes the goal, surpassing the original activity.
I, myself, hate the idea of not being in control of myself at all times. Anyone have any insight on what the appeal is, and if it's indeed a "rite of passage" thing, why haven't more people outgrown it?

Thanks for the input!

I had a dream that the guy I liked from our school came up to me, and started whispering these things to me as we were walking in like a bar or something. I couldn't hear what he said though, so I said what and I don' t know, but he wouldn't repeat what he said! I know the whispering was about how he knew that I liked him though. And in real life, he knows I like him! Anyways, I was so happy, I swam into this ocean with my family, and swam with dolphins??? I was chewing gum that time. Than, all of a sudden, he said he had to go because he was filming the next Star Wars film!!! I was so sad, so I ate a lot more gum. My family than gave me my report card and told me to open it. I did, and I got horrible grades, so later I went in my room and changed the scores!!! They asked me if they could see it but I said no and left it there later. The last thing I remember is saying goodbye to the guy I liked and me crying because my family didn't care or something! i woke up crying!!!!!!

If you were a horrible person and did nothing but hurt those around you would you consider suicide as a way to save them from yourself? You feel completely empathetic toward these people but you cannot stop yourself from acting this way because it is like instinct to you.

I asked a close female friend that we need to lose contact for awhile-so that I can get over my feelings for her.She said “If thats how you feel sweetheart,ok and that maybe you do need time out”.She only wants to be friends. The conversation ended with an argument, with her calling me 2 faced and selfish.(asked her if she ever felt anything for me and for her to be truthful). Why would she call me this? We're close friends.

We've not spoken for a whole month.I have tried calling\txting(last 2 days) and have got no response from her.For christmas I sent a card saying how important the friendship is to me and how special she is.In the txt I wrote how stupid I behaved and I regret it,would do anything to make amends. Why hasn't she responded to the missed calls\txts???Also the xmas card?

Could I have offended\hurt her really that much-how could I if she agreed to no contact?

Does this mean the friendship was never genuine? Will we speak again--or is she clearing her head?

Sorry for this so early on in the new year :-)

Someone I am close to keeps threatening suicide and it is really affecting everyone around. I think this person is not just saying it as a joke, but is actually contemplating it. I am overwhelmed by the situation and would appreciate some advice on how to deal with a person like this. Thanks.

People who are truly depressed feel hopeless, so why would they bother getting help? And what if someone is severely depressed, lives alone, and doesn't have friends? Given that person's condition, wouldn't it be impossible for that person to 'get help?' And isn't it sad that the people who do 'get help' are those who still have hope and are mildly depressed instead of the extremely depressed and completely socially isolated ones on the brink of suicide?

I'm drained but aching for more
And the devil inside is reading
The words of the saddest poem
To be engraved on the stone of my grave

I'd kill to share your pain
(And carry the shame)
And sell my soul for you just to say

I dream what you're dreaming
And feel what you're feeling
Love's our shadow on the wall
With the face of god

Nothing will be enough
For the ones Who keep on stumbling
In the garden of withering trust
Without the courage to leave

Oh I'd take my life for your kiss
(Grant me my wish)
And lose it all to take you across the abyss

I dream what you're dreaming
And feel what you're feeling
Love's our shadow on the wall
With the face of god

You dream what I'm Dreaming
And See what I'm seeing
Love's our shadow on the wall
With the Face of God

Labrynth in a shape of a heart
Love's secret architecture
I find myself to be lost in the
Arms of your feet

I'd kill to share you pain
(And carry the shame)
And sell my soul for you just to say
Love's name in vein
Again and again

I dream what you're dreaming
And feel what you're feeling
Love's our shadow on the wall
With the face of god

You dream what I'm Dreaming
And See what I'm seeing
Love's our shadow on the wall
With the face of god
Love's our shadow on the wall
With the face of
(Face of)
The face of
(Face of)
God

(Face of)
God

I am a caucasion teacher who works in a middle school with black and hispanic students. I find it interesting that I, as a caucasion guy, often find myself reprimanding my black students for using the N-word. I have also had several incidences of my students stating that it's okay for a black person to say and not for a white person to say to which I firmly respond, "No, it is absolutely unacceptable for anyone to use that word regardless of color or ethnicity!" This is often met with a look of a little shock and confusion from the students. It seems like from their point of view that as long as you're black and drop the "r" at the end of the word, then that changes the meaning of the word and is okay to use. But if you're white and pronounce the full word without dropping the "r" at the end, then that's the most disgustingly racist thing ever!
