Or did feminist not think or care for the massive numbers of abortions

2007-10-07 17:24:55 · 19 answers · asked by Anonymous

(I was inspired by a question that Tera asked :))

I'm wondering about connections between women across races and religions in feminism and women's issues..

I know that many feminists are interested in women's issues in both 1st and 3rd world countrys. And feminists are active in indigenous rights and were for a long time. And there are Christian feminists and Islamic feminists and I'm sure there must be other religion feminists.

It is not difficult to bring people together on the Net to comunicate and support each other and work together and any search engine shows that much this is being done by feminists already.

So I'm wondering how you feel about networking and conferencing and sharing our experiences and ideas between feminists of different races and cultures and religions and discussing problems and successes that we are having and help each other out.

Do you think we need to be doing this more?

I don't understand this inability some women supposedly have. I read about it and am baffled. I am a woman who achieves about 95 percent of the time. 100 if The guy knows me well. Can anyone out there tell me what these women's problem is? I'm genuinely baffled.

As Brother Happy pointed out, some of you believe my posts are, in his words, "useless and bad." I don't claim to be right about everything I say, think, or believe in. What I post is meant to get people to think, and if they agree with my views or not, if I have accomplished the "getting people to think" part, I feel I've done something useful.

What I'm wondering is, what is really the consensus here (or is there one?) regarding my posts?

Your thoughts are welcomed...here's you chance to totally rip me apart, so go for it!

O any by the way, for those of you who thank this to be a sexis or a genralization then know this. we both men and women have equal numbers who have this disorder so it is not gender specific.

I am prochoice when it comes to abortion .

If you make a decision to carry a child to term you should not smoke , do drugs or use alcohol

I have some cognitive issues derived from my biological mom smoking and drinking and taking arbituates when she had me

My brother on the otherhand is a pediatric cranial plastic surgeon

this is not a pity party i have had a job for 12 straight years but every day anything technical or word processing like is a challenge for me

i recently saw a friend hand a ciggarette to a pregnant lady . it offended me but i dont know how to approach it .
I do not think in this day and age a woman should smoke when she has a baby .

Do you agree ? How do you approach this if you agree?
If you do not agree tell me why ?

This is inspired by Tera's question...

I see the anti-feminists on here frequently making two statements:

1) Feminism is destructive to society. (Here they will talk about divorce rates, children without fathers, feminization of men, affirmative action, etc.)

2) Most women are not feminists. (They LOVE to point this out, with surveys of women who claim that they are not feminists)

So...where is this power of feminism to destroy society coming from, if most women (and most men) are not feminist? This seems to me to be a contradiction.

BTW--I don't support affirmative action.

Also, I think there IS a national crisis of children, especially boys, growing up without fathers. (But I don't blame this on feminism).

Your thoughts? Your experiences?

Lets face it. Women have more options when it comes to wearing clothes (men's and women's), makeup, etc. More women than before are even going into male-oriented jobs/sports & yet don't get criticized as much for that as men do for getting into traditional female activities/jobs (e.g. ballet, secretary). It's REALLY bad over in Australia & New Zealand! Girls in schools get away with any style, but boys are forced to have their hair short and not wear any earrings. That is SO unfair! I'm game for basic feminism: EQUAL RIGHTS for BOTH SEXES! Even though I would be too embarrassed to wear a feminine dress (that would be so "gay"), I still like to push the envelope for me to wear a toe ring, male skirts (e.g. kilts), & do things that metrosexuals do so that women aren't superior in everything. Women are already superior in some things, so I think it's only fair that men can be superior in some ways too. When it comes to satisfying male fantasies, only then should women B totally superior.

Does it seem to you that a few people in the GWS section got lost (and remained here) on their way to bible study? I mean - some just keep using the same old God argument... Or am I imagining things?

-Is it striving for male superiority and women's subjugation?
-Is it woman-hating?
-Is it working towards re-establishing a patriarchal society?
-Is it striving for a religious, conservative nation?
-Is it working towards a time when men ruled the home?
-If they disagree with only some of the things that feminism is about, but really believe in equality, why aren't they working with feminists on the issues they agree on? Why focus only on what they disagree with?

Seeing so much hatred expressed towards women in the forum today has made me wonder what the anti-feminist agenda for some of these people is really about?

Feminists, would you like your daughter to be that girl?..

http://www.click2houston.com/news/14284329/detail.html

Guys have always been after one thing... But what about girls? How come they dont value their virginity or reputation anymore? Everytime I say women are way too promiscuous these days, feminists here lash out at me saying crap like..."they are just liberated, exploring their sexuality, men first, etc..." I blame feminists for the decline of the morality in this country... Agree or Disagree?

Is it just me or no matter what happended or what the situation or circumstances are, the court/jury almost always seems to have more sympathy towards the woman.

Let's say a woman lied about being raped by some guy, even though she's lying the court always seems to be more on her side.

Or in a custody battle when a woman claims a child belongs to a man, but the man denies it. It's her word agianst his. Yet the court/jury still has more sympathy towards the woman and portray the man as a selfish person when that may totaly not be the case.

Why is that?

I always tought that the point of gender equality was to make everything between men and women equal yet it seems that some feminists and women who follow them only wants the good and not the bad but at the same time call men sexist when they are against something that benefits them as a woman.
For one why is there not a strong outcry to change selective service laws to include women.
Also I have seen many cases in which a male hires a hitman to kill his wife for insurance money and get the death penalty whereas a woman only get life. Three there is not much anger or outcry from feminist when a woman gets child custody because of her gender and not her qualifications as there is when a man gets a job or promotion over a woman due to his gender.
