(I was inspired by a question that Tera asked :))
I'm wondering about connections between women across races and religions in feminism and women's issues..
I know that many feminists are interested in women's issues in both 1st and 3rd world countrys. And feminists are active in indigenous rights and were for a long time. And there are Christian feminists and Islamic feminists and I'm sure there must be other religion feminists.
It is not difficult to bring people together on the Net to comunicate and support each other and work together and any search engine shows that much this is being done by feminists already.
So I'm wondering how you feel about networking and conferencing and sharing our experiences and ideas between feminists of different races and cultures and religions and discussing problems and successes that we are having and help each other out.
Do you think we need to be doing this more?

Absolutely I think we should do this more. What better way to explore different perceptions of suppression and equality. What does equality mean in the US? What does it mean in Africa? Saudi Arabia? I would be incredibly interested in this topic.

Sounds great! Can't have enough feminists bridging race and religion. Wonder if this is something anti-feminists could agree to work on too?
Oh for the misinformed, here's what feminism is defined as:
Feminism comprises a number of social, cultural and political movements, theories and moral philosophies concerned with gender inequalities and discrimination against women. Feminism is also described as an ideology focusing on equality of the sexes.
What's bad about equality?

There are so many problems faced by women in different ethic group , different social economic levels , different cultural/ ethnic customs and religions. Just here in the States. Any group would have to take into consideration, those differences to be successful.
I can not believe the male reaction. I was turned off to the Feminists of the 1970s and their in your face attacks, but I as a young Chicano used those same tactics to bring attention to the cause of the Chicano. Another young Chicano founded La Raza Unida Party And his words of the 1970s are used today by the anti immigration movement.. Dr Jose Angel Gutierrez PHD is a Judge.
Wake up Guys we live in a different world, live it .enjoy it.

I think we are already doing this. I know for a fact many colleges have feminist collective clubs available, many off campus speakers have been coming to discuss issues. Networking is the only inspiring way to provide better understanding to those women who are just starting their feminist voyage. I would however like to see a more international force started. This way the ideas and issues can be shared with any by-passer along the street. This way a more diverse variety of people can unite, whether it be a mother, her daughter and her brother.

"Feminists across race and religion"? Grow up. As has so often been said before 'feminism' is not about equality. It is an evil, hypocritical, nazi cult. Sadly, even many of those who still call themselves feminists have not yet got the message. They're still into that "that's not what feminism is about" mode.
I believe that the founders of feminism, the suffagettes, were sincere people. They were fighting for universal voting rights at a time when neither men nor women could vote unless they owned property. But the movement was later corrupted by hate-filled people in NOW and in the women's studies movement. (Read some of Erin Pizzey's books about the way the feminista operates. Erin was a caring and courageous woman who was victimized and had death threat directed against her and her family for standing up to the feminista fanatics.)
I'm an equalist. That means that I believe that men and women are born different but equal, are of equal worth, and are deserving of fair treatment under just laws.
(I believe than equalism will edge both feminism and masculism out of the picture.)

That is exactly what I am doing. I am currently assisting the head of the women's studies department at the University of Jordan in constructing a gender studies discourse locally and in attempting to intigrate gender studies into the larger university curriculum.

Dont speak as if you are addressing only the feminists. You are discriminating between them and the others. Be nice to all and get loved back and keep answers fun instead. If we dont network here where else can we network

i think networking and keeping in contact with all of our fellow feminists (or humanists) is a great idea. as you mentioned, many that label themselves feminists are also involved and interested in all human rights issues. look at alice walker! she did, indeed, reach out to other women in other regions, and she drew attention to female genital mutilation here in the states, where we knew little about it.
i'd love to become organized. feminism needs more organization. we need to recognize our feminism, and talk about it! with each other and with the world!

It is rather sad when any invidual actually acknowledges feminism as any else than what it really is.
Feminism is not about equality or even wanting to bridge people across religions.
Feminism is about female supremacy and spreading male hate.
Feminism is a doctrine that is determined to destroy the family and society as we know it to be by maliciously and constantly stirring up hate against the opposite gender in this case all males.
So can feminism spread anything else except hate, I definately think not.

Absolutely. At best, we are second rate citizens, and at worst we have no voice at all. As it is, we are a silent majority. It's past time we made ourselves heard.
