I need to track down an 18 month forecast for the unemployment rate in the U.S. It should extend out to June of 2008.

Does anyone know where I can find one for free? I have found some, but they are only for 6 months and not what I am looking for.

Any guidance here is appreciated.

Many advanced industrialized countries subsidize farmers. Assume that the effect of the subsidy is to shift the supply curve of agricultural products by farmers in the advanced industrialized countries to the right. Why might less-developed countries be unhappy with such policies?

Think about this...If every country in the world united and decided to get rid of currency and pledged to share their resources with the rest of the world freely and likewise receive resources from all the other countrys pledged to doing the same thing could we eliminate the worlds problems primarly poverty but there are lots of other positive things that come to mind. Everybody would have to do a job and in return receive whatever they needed to live comfortably. Companies and businesses would continue freely manufacturing, and would in turn receive whatever they require to grow and deliver their products. In a nutshell every aspect of modern day society would continue doing what they do but for free and in return receiving all the elements they need to continue growing and producing to support the rest of the world. Would this work or have i just smoked too much hydro this morning?

I'm need of Web-based resources that provides low-income communities with information and tools to serve their unique needs. I should like to take advantage of educational and employment opportunities on the internet because I believe that every community should have a chance to benefit from a networked global society. I have spent most of my time studying and writing about the social and economic crisis and its effects on poor rural people in Zambia. I have noticed that most young people have been forced by economic desperation to support themselves in ways that harm their lives and the environment, such as drinking, prostitution, violence, deforestation, and over-harvesting of natural resources. Young people need the kind of education where they learn lessons in cooperation and teamwork and to understand the rules of society. One important way to pass on these skills and values to youths is by connecting and creating partnerships between young people who are from diverse worlds.

we have this huge trade deficit? Lots of companies have either moved out of the country or outsourced jobs. We have a lot of people loosing their jobs every day. With all of this going on, how is our economy doing so well? We also are borrowing so much money for this war, the largest debt in history. How can this all mesh together to come out a good economy? Please explain this.

Would the stock market succeed if every American were taught how to invest? How would this affect the economy?

I am not asking if it is possible to do this-- certainly a challenge-- but what would hapen to the markets if every person knew how they operated? If everyone invested at an early age in a moderate growth account of some kind (like a Roth IRA) we would have many more millionaires. Would this drive up inflation?

It is clear to me that there are several sources of poverty in America. And perhaps a way to solve much of the problem is to educate the masses to use their money wisely. A relatively small amount of money treated wisely can grow quite large over the course of 30 years. If we could truly do this-- how would poverty be affected in this country?

Understandably not everyone will chose to heed this advice, but what difference would it make if they were exposed to the ideas as children rather than as adults in their 30s or 40s?

I read and hear a lot about the so called poor in the USA. I really think people there do not understand what poor is. When there is nothing to eat for days at a time and no shelter when it rains then you might say poor.
I know that if a person has reasonable knoledge he or she can accomplish a lot and there is no reason to stay poor in the USA. I came from very poor parents and have done well and still am. I have been to many lands and seen many things and those saying they are poor in the USA are rich compared to many peoples.

i would like a few opinions regarding energy market regulation in america and abroad, in particular whether you feel as i do that it is a good idea. while markets are risky and the organizations that trade energy will never be perfect, i believe that open markets are a better alternative to depending solely on governments and energy cartels to determine prices. however, these markets are vulnerable to corruption, as could be witnessed in california during the enron days. i am looking for different viewpoints, any and all opinions on the subject are welcome...

Japan has a declining population (already), a very low birth rate, huge fiscal deficits with no sign of an end, and an enormous national debt of 170% GDP (compared to 65% GDP for the US). All the demographics only get MUCH worse, as within 50 years there will be 30% fewer people, ONLY ONE-HALF as many working age people, and far more retired seniors. And the articles don't go further out, but seems to me that that's when things REALLY start imploding.

Seems Japan is doomed. Any possibility that they are not? What exactly happens to Japan in coming decades?

Most people I know are convinced that a dystopian future will come true, due to global warming, overpopulation, etc.

I strongly believe that these threats are over-hyped and would like some benefits for being right.

Is there something mid-range (20-30 years or so) that I could do (like a future, but very long lasting) to get paid for being right?

I think the future will be amazing. But I'm sick of being chastised for this view and would like to benefit from it.

And all would be like before, only with half the working hours? After all, if it's a free market economy, prices depend on buying power. If it is being lowered in a controlled, worldwide, simultaneous, action by 50%, so will, eventually, the prices, and we will be living in a society where people don't drop dead with heart attacks aged 38.

Do you get my spin on this?
Would you happen to know if there is literature available on this?
Surely, I can't be the first to have such an idea (the Arab world practices a 6-hour workingday limit, at least in Saudi Arabia).

With the New Year approaching, I'd like to make a resolution to do more to make sure that the money I spend doesn't go straight into the pockets of the very rich. Therefore, I'm trying to find out more about fair trade companies with a good reputation.

Are there any well-known companies that divide profits in an equitable way, making sure that the people who actually manufacture or produce their goods are paid a fair amount for their labor? Are there less well-known companies that offer goods at a competitive rate or quality while nevertheless engaging in "fair trade" practices? What companies offer "fair trade" goods online?

Also, what American companies pay their employees well and offer health insurance benefits rather than underemploying and underpaying them like Wal-Mart does? What American companies are the worst offenders when it comes to doing everything they can to keep their employees from earning better pay and basic benefits?
