With all of its wealth, land and billions being given out for year-end bonuses, why can't America create homes for its homeless. Why does anyone in America outside of the drug addicted or mentally instable go without food or shelter?

I think the US is one-quarter of the world's total product. If that is the case then the answer would be somewhere in the $48 trillion range. Do you agree?

then why do a lot of them continue to keep having child after child, ignoring their financial situation? Tax payers should not have to support people who can have 8 kids but too lazy to get jobs.

I know they're second-hand goods, and as such, the sale does not increase GDP. This makes sense to me, since GDP measures production during the current period, and the paintings were not produced in the current period.

But what's bothering me is that GDP is also said to measure income during the period, and when the paintings are sold, they count as income for somebody.

So how do those rascally varmints explain this away?

I know to really be considered upper-middle class, one usually needs to be educated beyond a Bachelors Degree and work in a profession such as a doctor, lawyer, university professor, architect, or be a high level manager or own a large business. However, these people are usually in simmilar income brackets which affords them the opportunity to live a lifestyle somewhat rich in luxury and enough disposable income to buy more freedom and independence most working-class or middle-class don't enjoy. Again, I am not speaking of the wealthy here; rather I am discussing the upper-middle class or what is sometimes called the professional-managerial class. What income levels in America would put somebody within this classes range of lifestyle in an average American city. I know New York, Boston, Frisco and LA would be significantly higher than say places like Chicago or Detroit, but a simple range would be great. Thanks!

The only time I feel like a commie is when see those annoying commercials where someone receives a new silver Lexus with a big red bow on it for Christmas. Are there affluent people who actually do step up like trained seals and give out a $50,000 car for Christmas just because they saw a commercial? I know none of you are rich but maybe you have affluent cousins or uncles or employers who do this?

The Spartan Regiment Marching Band at Francis Howell Central High School in St. Charles, Missouri was selected to go to China to represent the United States in the Olypic Cultural Festival 2007. However, we are a small band and we need to raise $4,000 just for one person to go...but we have like 150+ band members. Any means of fundraising suggestions or money offered would be helpful because we haven't been getting much publicitiy! Please help our marching band, it's a great honor and we would really love to go! Thank you very much!

I live in rural africa and I have Internet access at least six hours a day for the past six months. I the begin there was a lot of excitement because of the job/scholarship/volunteer opportunities that the internet offers. Sadly I have discovered that 98% of these opportunties do not cater for people in the southern part of africa (especially) Zambia, Malawi, Zimbambwe, Botswana. Firms or organisation that extend their services to this group are mostly scammers. On several occassions I have had no replies to my requests or responses like " Sorry we do not offer our services to that part of the world or "sorry the only payment accepted is through credit cards". The use of credit of credit cards is almost nil around here. Is there someone out there who can give genuine firms or organisations that offer real global services with regard to jobs, scholarships disadvantage but high achieving students or exchange service
