In the United States:

We could put a huge tax on the wealthiest 5% of people and redistribute the money to the poorest (that really wouldn't be seen as fair, however. And it would never happen since most of the people in our government are in the top 5).

We could stop having so many children.

We could stop sending all our decent-paying, blue collar jobs to other countries.

We could pay the people that still do have jobs a living wage.

We could provide health insurance to all people.

It is true that the rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer. The middle class is shrinking. If we continue on the current trend, we will soon have nothing but a hand full of the population that has all the wealth (and, hence, power) and a great majority of people in poverty. We truly need reforms. Lots of them.

We can't totally end poverty. It's like the old philosophical question of 'Can you force someone to be free?'.
There will always be some who refuse help, usually (but not always) because of mental problems.

But a lot can be done. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Some point to household income figures that show that, although the rich are getting richer faster, the poor also are becoming wealthier (slightly). What the figures don't show is how many more hours are worked to get that slight increase and how many more expenses are included in working those hours (day care, travel etc).
There has to be a better redistribution of wealth. I think that will happen when governments start getting worried about the grumblings of the working and middle class. Internationally, rich nations are going to have to understand it costs more in the long run to exploit other nations than to deal with them fairly.

Unfortunately, things will have to get a lot worse before they get better.

Peace

Poverty will never end as people will rapidly overproduce children creating massive problems for thier society.

In Iran, poverty is deepening there as they have had a policy of 5 children per women, and the unemployment rate is set to rise to 50% in a few years.

Mexico had a population of 10m people in 1927, and now have 104m after similar population policies, with millions and millions unemployed and in poverty who have no choice but to flee to America and subsist.

Whatever you do with education, industries and jobs, the sheer power of numbers after resources, land, food, electricty, water, heating, energy etc.. makes people poorer. The best thing you can ask for is for population stabilisation.

Tax the poor, and eliminate taxes on the rich. That may sound politically incorrect, but it would sure give the poor an incentive to not be poor, wouldn't it?

As for how to tax the REALLY poor, well like the IRS can drain half the whiskey from a homeless wino's bottle. Or confiscate 35% of an urban household's cigarettes and lottery tickets. Or cut off the long hair of some white redneck's mullet, or maybe raise the sales tax on pork rinds and Larry the Cable Guy albums. Just got to be creative.

By sharing and dividing all money equally. After all money is only worth something to you when you are alive, you can't take it with you! Many rich people are absolutely loaded and they should give some of their money to the poor, instead of buying status symbols - what a waste of money!!!!

It will NEVER go away until THOSE people choose to make a change. WE / YOU can educate till we are blue in the face but until the poor STOP doing what they are doing, things will NOT change.

Life is full of choices !! They CHOOSE to be where they are by their everyday decisions regarding their finances.
