I don't seen why they have to choose. Surely, countries can work together on a global scale and help one another out without sacrificing the needs of their people.

No. I don't think they should put it ahead of their own nation, but it certainly should be a consideration in whatever decisions they make. Maybe I'm wrong, but in my opinion there is a certain responsibility of a nations leaders to it's own nation first and foremost. I do think we should all do whatever we can to help our neighbors and friends whenever possible. I will always help my family first and I would hope that my nation's leaders would feel the same way.

nations always put their concerns first before the global community. So called "leader nations'" such as G7's so called foreign policy, aid, and help are investments in their own interest. People who think otherwise are naive...
