Why is it that the welfare system pays people to have babies? I teach older minority adults and they often speak of their peers who have babies so that they can get extra money from the government each month. Why has the government not put a stop to this? What is the government's responsibility?

Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover"?
Have you read his book or followed his advice and if so, has it helped? And how could you apply it if you are in the middle of a bankruptcy- I have no choice.

I read the whole chapter and can't find this one answer, can someone point me in the right direction?

The question is:
Why might it be necessary to reduce consumer spending in order to attain faster economic growth? Would it be worth the sacrafice?

I don't really understand why a reduction in consumer spending would mean faster economic growth. I thought maybe it is because we are importing most of our goods, so if we spend less, less money goes overseas. But I don't think that is the right answer? Help please?

My husband works full time and me part time but with 4 kids we cannot make ends meet. Right now I only make $6.00 an hour. Yes, we live in Arkansas but I have the feeling that we are not alone.
What is ironic is that if like my husband quit we could get food stamps, etc. and probably do as well!
I am just curious how it is across the country.
