The committee is deadlocked between a 25 basis point increase, a pause in interest rate hikes and a 25 basis point descrease. You have the casting vote, what do you decide?

This question will close at 2.00pm EDT on Tuesday August 8th 2006, but will not be voted on until the FOMC's decision at 2.15pm EDT. The best answer will be determined by whoever get the answer right (based on the FOMC's decision) but also the best explaniation for that decision.

Specifically demand in China and India, among other nations, are the cause of high oil prices. Yet it's all driven by politics, who blame only the US. Am I confused, or is the news defused?

In these times we must rethink our dependence and addiction to our automobiles. Think of all the gas you can save, the CO2 emissions you can stop. In some cities your commute might even be faster by public transportation. Just give it a try.

It seems to me that some entity - at some time, uh, I don't know when - must be in for a large windfall!

Do you believe that a lot of deception exists in the world of finance?

Is it realistic to believe that a nation's wealth is stored in gold bullion in a vault somewhere?

Is Fort Knox really a lot of BULL-ion?

Why isn't some of that alleged bullion being used to pay off some of the foreign debt of the United States or even to feed and look after its own people, as well as others? Isn't it really a waste of gold chains that could be made out of it? After all, gold only has an ascribed value due to its status as a precious metal, not a major intrinsic one.

Do you believe that money is really created out of thin air in the form of credit, issued by the major world bankers, who have chiselled some kind of monopoly (over what, I don't know, maybe hot air)?

It is noted that each technological improvement result in an increased level of general employment in most of the countries except few centres of concentration of latest generation of technical hands. Just very few places and very few employed people would need to work to meet the needs of the entire world population in the new technology likelyn to evolve. Most of the people may be rendered useless and jconsidered just a liability. Man would no longer need man for his survival. Could it result in a dinasaur like end of man leaving behind few robots drawing their life from atomic and solar batteries?
