because it is apart of their religion to take school and work seriously.... no joke... i heard it recently... and that they also take their hygiene seriously, which is y a long time ago, when everybody was dying from various diseases related to poor hygiene, the jews knew how to bathe properly and which animals (rats...) to aviod... they said that God was the one who told them how to take care of themselves and told them how they can stay prosperous....

(below is a list of generalizations--just like the question itself. of course they may not hold for every jewish person)
1) they work hard
2) they are smart (higher average IQ than any other people)
3) they really believe they are god's chosen people
4) they stick together (a jewish person will naturally have some jewish connections!)
5) they are brought up for success (i've heard about an amazing jewish child-raising tradition: they make an agreement with their kid that the pocket money the kid will receive every week/month/... from them is going to be twice (or some smaller number times) the amount the kid manages to save from his previous week/month's pocket money! now, sit back and admire this incredible method for a few seconds here... the child will never spend all the money he has, because, otherwise, he'll get 0*2=0 next month! so at the age of six, the kid learns to save money (i know who can't at the age of 40!), or borrow in optimal amounts from his friends when he fails to do so, etc.. at the age of six, the jewish kid develops a basic but solid intuition about how to deal with money, how to make more money from money, and how finance works in real life, which other ordinary people start learning much later in their lives, if they ever do [of course, as some of the more math oriented readers will notice here, the parents must be doing some calculations regarding the amount of the initial pocket money as well as how many times more money the kid will receive next month. otherwise, because of the exponentially increasing money the kid will receive, the parents could go broke very soon])

I believe, that since the Holocaust, they have decided to never have a victim mentality again. You rarely hear Jews talking about how the world has done them wrong and asking for reparations. I believe that they decided that the best way to take control of their lives is to be educated and contribute to the world.

Why do the Irish Drink?
Why do protestants drive white cars?
Why are Mexicans, Blacks, Italians so lazy?
Why are Pennsylvania Germans so ignorant? Stereotypes sew the seeds of hate.
That being said, I have a theory; Due to the exclusionary policies in the '50 and '60s, Jews may have discovered that they were a minority. Having experienced oppression in Germany, the best way to assure yourself a place in society is to rule it. Maybe you would have to encourage your kids to excel as lawyers, doctors, and etc... to prove your value to society. This way you escape oppression and hatred.

They educate themselves and work hard. They are excellent students and have goals. Most Jewish people become doctors, lawyers, teachers or go into other professions. Achievement is important in Jewish families.

are they?
i dont know how one could judge if they are more successful - it is hard to quantify success
how do you measure how happy a person is?
how do you measure how confused and lost inside a person is?
how do you measure how dependent they are on external things?
how do you measure inner peace and calm?
how do you measure wisdom?
how do you measure justice?
how do you measure moderation or any of the other things that cause happiness?
how do you know that the sample of jews you have encountered was a balanced sample?
how do you know if they were jews or just kidding you?
what defines a jew?
a practising religious jew?
how strict a practising jew makes a 'real' jew?
a racial jew?
would jews accept your list of jews or would they differ on who was a jew?
how do you check their racial purity or mixture?
[wisdom is to know what you know and know what you dont know]
