Anthropology (Social Science)

was there ever a society/civilization/tribe/group of humans that established another system?
I know i have read somewhere that all the members of some tribes of some islands- maybe in the pacific ocean, not sure though - used to take care of all the babies/children as if they were their own...
are there many worldwide organizations or groups of intellectuals who defend this kind of system? does it have an specific name?
I don´t know about you guys, but this "alternative system"(where everybody is responsible for all the kids) is a lot more reasonable than leaving the kids in the hands of 2 persons who can do pretty much whatever they want with them...(hitting the child at their will, punishing as much as they want, denying anything, etc....)

How do you call a person, whose profession is to discern types of people's appearance, eyes form, etc.?

I'm not English-speaking, that's why i might not explain well what i mean. It is a profession, somebody who is specialized in knowing types of nose, eyes, & all of the body structure differencies. This specialist is of great help when people describe a criminal, for example. S/he asks appropriate questions in order to have a picture of the criminal from the words of eyewitnesses. I hope i managed to make it clear. Thanks to all who will find time to answer

Do we risk of reversing the evolutionary principle "survival of the fittest" which shaped mankind up to now?

Cruel as it may sound, Humanity might be facing a problem soon enough.
Natural causes, conflicts and diseases have shaped the Humanity for millennia.
Only the fittest survived and the population was kept from reaching planetary unsustainable figures... I.e. maybe until World War Two.
Are Technology and Medicine changing all that?
Is the Earth becoming overcrowded?
Shall we start taking measures before our life on Earth becomes unsustainable?
Shall the Humanity find new places in order to continue growing? Will we be ready and willing to colonize Space before is too late?
A few generations from now they might be forced to face such problems seriously. Ethic principles might not be applicable anymore in such circumstances. Only pragmatic solutions.
Should the problem not be addressed on time, the "fittest survivors" will be just a small minority of very lucky or very influent individuals.
Quite happy if somebody finds a solution or proves me wrong!
