was there ever a society/civilization/tribe/group of humans that established another system?
I know i have read somewhere that all the members of some tribes of some islands- maybe in the pacific ocean, not sure though - used to take care of all the babies/children as if they were their own...
are there many worldwide organizations or groups of intellectuals who defend this kind of system? does it have an specific name?
I don´t know about you guys, but this "alternative system"(where everybody is responsible for all the kids) is a lot more reasonable than leaving the kids in the hands of 2 persons who can do pretty much whatever they want with them...(hitting the child at their will, punishing as much as they want, denying anything, etc....)

COMMENTING ON SOME ANSWERS

"The parents, who are in love in some way, can come together and collaborate on how to raise the child."

yeah, that actually words, but only in the perfect world!!!!

"If anyone and everyone else is involved then lots of different methods will be brought upon the child's raising. It will only confuse them."

how do you know that? human beings are pretty smart and creative, they can actually figure out a way to avoid doing that... everybody can work together - psychologists, sociologists, etc...-

But I also don't agree with parents being able to do whatever they want like hitting...anyone who sees something dangerous should report it right away.

unfortunally that´s not aways the case... what about the children who are being systematically hit, raped, starved, sold( to slavery, ....) ?
nope, we can´t just forget about them, they are our brothers, they are as human as we are

I vaguely remember seeing news reels at the motion picture shows, during WWII of Russian and Chinese Communes where all of the children were gathered together in one unit, and cared for by a cadre of nurses and teachers.

Yah, that sorta kinda gives you an idea of my age - that was long before TV came into the picture. And they did have news reels of events that happened last week, or last month, at motion picture theaters, not movies.

I don't know if that's a good idea because the parents decided to have the child. The parents, who are in love in some way, can come together and collaborate on how to raise the child. If anyone and everyone else is involved then lots of different methods will be brought upon the child's raising. It will only confuse them. I've lived with my parents and brother when I had my son and everyone always felt like they could parent him. One person would tell him yes, another no. It's not a good system.
But I also don't agree with parents being able to do whatever they want like hitting...anyone who sees something dangerous should report it right away.

Do you live in the USA?
All a child in htis country has to do is decide that you didn't give them enough dessert & you're in trouble for emotional abuse! Yell at them for stealing/smoking cig or pot/ lying/cheating/poor grades/stealing cars/ anything else & you're in BIG trouble! You sound like you think Hilliary's book is the way to go.
It USED to be in this country, that the entire community DID raise the children of it's members. I did what any adult told me to (so long as it went w/ my parents teaching, i.e. no stealing, no talking to strangers, etc.) Now, you can't say anything to a child no matter what they're doing. I caught a neighbors child sawing down one of my fruit trees! I took it away & told him to have his father come & get it. His father screamed at me for taking it away. Said that it wasn't my place to disapline his child! Said I should have told hte child to leave my yard & then come & talk to him. Of course, if I hadn't had the saw, he wouldn't have believed that HIS little angel had done anything. It was some other child!
The government has far too much control over child rearing! I'm all for going back to the methods of the 50's! Spare the rod & spoil the child! That doesn't mean BEAT them to a bloody pulp. It means, sparingly applied corrporal punishment.

Years ago, many a young girl stayed out of trouble because, "My dad would KILL me if I did that!"

Some of them still do.

If you research, you will find that hunter/gatherer peoples did this with one person acting as a sort of babysitter.

In some tribes, it was not uncommon mates to break up and move on to other mates. The difference in our society and these ancient societies was that everyone was taken care of. They were responsibile for their children, ex wives, the elders, etc. EVERYBODY WORKED TOGETHER TO MAINTAIN ORDER...

I have always favored the "bung hole" theory of raising children. Place them in a barrel and feed them through the bung hole. When they become teenagers, drive the bung in.

One problem with that system is that no one in particular might feel acutely responsible for a given child.
