I think that Salvadorans have more Indian and Spanish blood than African. From what the first article says there were some difficulties in importing and keeping black slaves there and so there weren't as many as in some of the other countries, like Haiti, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela or Brazil, all coastal Caribbean countries. The article says that everyone has at least one African somewhere in there over the last 400 years. The USA used to figure that blood was cleared when it reached 1/32 of African ancestry.

The wikipedia says this, "El Salvador is the only Central American country that has no visible native African population because of its relative inaccesibility to the Atlantic slave trade. In addition, General Maximiliano Hernandez Martinez instituted race laws in 1930 that prohibited blacks from entering the country." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Salvador

I think it is safe to say that most of the people who have lived in the Western Hemisphere since Contact (1492) have some amount of all 3 gene pools. And I think that is a good thing. :) Some have more of one, and some more of another, while some like to think they are 'pure'. We all belong to the human race.

I really dont know that answer, but I dont think they would be from Africa. Probably mestizo's (Spanish colonials who mixed with the local natives). Where did you find information to suggest this?
