This is a question I've been pondering for a long time. Evolution depends on Natural Selection which says that the strong survive, allowing them to pass on their superior characteristics to their descendants. Throughout history there have been men and women who's bravery has led to their deaths. Shouldn't the bravery "trait" for lack of a better would, have been eliminated in the first organisms that exhibited it. Certainly bravery has not been conducive to survival in the past. It was certainly the bravest men that died in the French resistance of WWII (which may explain much about their current disposition). So how did bravery find its way into the human genome? Sure, it may help society as a whole, but it endangers the individual, and should therefore have been eliminated long ago.

Ok don't get the wrong impression, my GPA currently stands at 4.2. The reason why I'm interested in focusing skills is because sometimes I waste a lot of time and get side tracked on things like instant messanger and my space. If I could find a way to make myself focus on the task at hand better, I think I would have more of a life, because it seems like all my life consists of now is homework. I want to beable to get my homework done quickly, so I have more time for hobbys and getting together with friends. ^_^

What is the term for an overprotective parent that constantly thinks her son/daughter is "out-of-control" or "mentally ill," just b/c her child is misbehaving in normal typical ways that children tend to misbehave? For example, thinking that her daughter has a "mental disorder" simply b/c the daughter has mood swings at puberty?(you get the idea) I have a friend who was actually taken to a SHRINK by her strict parents, b/c they were convinced that her acting like a "normal college kid" was "abnormal"...just to be told by the shrink that she was indeed a perfectly normal, career-focused young girl!(even a shrink didn't find anything wrong with the girl!) Could it be possible that the parents have a disorder? Is this just simple paranoia or overprotectiveness, or could this be something far worse? NOTE: I don't think my friend's parents WANT their daughter to be "insane," but I think they'd rather think she is "insane" than accept that dating & drinking are "normal" parts of college life

Long story short. I am a nice, decent semi-attractive girl. I respect everyone and do my best. However, I don't date at all or really talk to guys. People have called me a lesbian and I hardly know them.
This really hurts, and this was at church when they said this. I do forgive them.

My reason is my dad was very abusive verbally, mentally, and emotionally, and if he communicated it was always negative, and mean. As a result I don't date as I fear men will hurt me, or worse.

So, why do people say mean things?

i often wonder if there would be less screwed up people if this were so.
that is how u would learn about it 10,000 years ago if u lived in a cave
instead of discovering it accidentally , with accompanying embarrassment or from immature peers or exotic pornography
all (nearly) parents hide the act and whisper about it

i think i might have social anxiety disorder or something..
I get really nervous around large crowds in a loud hallway (especially in school)
Talking to guys i like is soo hard! I worry over basicly everything.. And find every reason to worry.. And then i have to calm myself down..
I always feel like people are watching me..
Today i had excessive sweaty palms..
I pretty much feel really uncomfortable in any place but my house and its annoying..
Is there anything i can do to stop being so self-conscience and scared of everything? I sometimes get so emotional i cry over something minor.. Im only 15, please help
Other days.. im more laid-back and laugh over everything.. I just hate these emotion-swings and phobias..

I am turning 40 soon and I must say I have lots of regrets. Marriage, Children, leaving the service too soon, not obtaing my college degree. Not waiting to Fall in Love. The song on repeat that plays in my head is, "If I had known then, what I know now." Speak to me people, let me know I am not alone.
