I am turning 40 soon and I must say I have lots of regrets. Marriage, Children, leaving the service too soon, not obtaing my college degree. Not waiting to Fall in Love. The song on repeat that plays in my head is, "If I had known then, what I know now." Speak to me people, let me know I am not alone.

i do not regret anything in my life, not even the diseases i had
maybe if i could choose my family..
but the things that depended on me, i chose very well

you can still get your college degree, trust yourself, i have a colleague in medicine that is 40, so it's never too late
there's always the possibility of divorce
or try to change him, read more , get a new job, take more time for your hobbies, go skating with your children...

i won't talk like you not even when i'll be 100 years old, you'll see

life doesn't stop at 40

Overall, the decisions I have made have given me a life without too much turmoil. I have lived all my life within a radius of 20 miles. I have worked in the same place for 30 years. And I've been married to the same woman for more than 30 years. Some people might find all that dull. But I am moderately happy with my life. Did I drift into some of my life choices without really making a definite decision? Yes.
As to your situation, as they used to say in the 1960s, today is the first day of the rest of your life. Forty sounds pretty young to me. You can seek counseling to help you make changes. Community college is fairly inexpensive if you want to start going for that college degree. Good luck.

Sweetie you are definitely not alone on this. I too have regrets I just turned 53 and the regret banner plays through the brain patterns all the time. Regrets are marriage disaster(no love-young) not finishing college---no kids--the games on played on peoples emotions and I feel the list is endless sometimes. But I know I can't live in the what if stage, so I try not to think about it and it does get easier the older I get.

We all get to a point in life where we ask "what's it all about"..we can't change the past and any mistakes we made helps us to improve .Don't dwell on the past..Treat every day as the start of a new chapter..a clean sheet.and try to act better than yesterday.I have many regrets..done things I'm ashamed of..and some I would give the world to be able to change..But I can't ...so be happy and hope you don't make those mistakes again..

After a lot of wrong decisions, I realised that through those mistakes I learned how to make the right decisions.

Make the most out of those experiences.

Nobody knew then, what one knows now.

The point is that you can't do anything about your past life decisions. You did what you did then as you thought it was the best thing to do at the time.

Hang in there. Live for the precious present. It's a gift.

Dunno --- I'll tell ya in many decades.

When you focus on regrets you'll only attract bad stuff --- find a short two word phrase like "I'm good" and say 20 times everytime you get a bad though. Reason, you'll create good energy and positive ppl will come to you.

Of course you aren't alone...but I finally realized that I could die today or tomorrow so I make every moment count.

None of this matters when we are gone. None of it.
