Seems the Aussies have the worst of everything...spiders, snakes, ants...yada. Why? It has to be something to do with the animals diet. Could it be the plants there? The way venom and poison work are usually through the animals diet. There is no doubt, Australia is one seriously mysterious place.

I was wondering why are gnats here...they just fly around the soccer and football fields getting in our mouths and eyes? What good are they to the ecosystem? All answers are for how to get them out of a home but I wanted to know the meaning of gnats.

We got him with these stubby little wings but he was pretty little and we figured he either hadn't developed flight feathers yet or they were trimmed at the shop before we bought him. Either way, he jumps off his cage, flaps his wings and almost goes straight down! Aside from him hurting himself when he crash lands, I'm starting to think he'll never fly. Oh, but he's so cute! You can see him at the following address:

Somewhere in south china (?) squirrels natural food like nuts, seeds and berries is so low they've started hunting in groups and attacking stray dogs, killing them and eating bits of their flesh!!!

Are squirrels omnivores then?? It's new to me. Doesnt it sound scary??!

Yes, I know I can go to places like Yellowstone and see large herds of - something - but what am I looking at, exactly? Are the animals in these herds purebred bison or the results from crossbreeding bison with cattle? If they are hybrids, are purebred bison extinct, leaving only the hybrids as the surviving species?

We live in a rich fossil area, full of slate and sedementary rocks. We have many fossils we are sure of but many more imprints that may be fractures, simple rock striations, or really fossil imprints. Several are of snake skulls with the back bone included! Others are really really could be's but not sure's! We don't want to buy any more books-we want a great comparison web site to look at our collection and then this site and say, hey this really is (fill in blank) or rats, it's only a (fill in blank!) Tired of text documents with one picture of that dreary fish fossil-we want flora and fauna!
