Somewhere in south china (?) squirrels natural food like nuts, seeds and berries is so low they've started hunting in groups and attacking stray dogs, killing them and eating bits of their flesh!!!

Are squirrels omnivores then?? It's new to me. Doesnt it sound scary??!

Squirrels, like any other creature trying to survive, will eat just about anything if they're hungry enough. A while back, I saw a squirrel in my yard munching on a bird head like it was corn-on-the-cob. A couple weeks ago, I noticed the juvenile squirrels in the neighborhood had taken to eating cardboard out of the recycling bins. I figured they must be awful hungry, so I gave them some popcorn. So, to answer your question- squirrels are oportunistic omnivores.

I have not heard that one before, but it makes sense. That breed of squirrel has just adapted to its environment.
